Ecotec is the name of the type of engine. What exactly is your point?

Pre-production cars have the hell beat out of them...I wouldn't worry about that part. Obviously this car is more about the drivetrain testing than the final product overall. Just check out that hole cut for the left exhaust pipe....lol then again watch it come from the factory like that.

I like the pics of the concept that car is freakin sweat. I would buy one if it looked like the concept. I'm graduating soon gm better be done with it. I also wish it had an 8 cylinder atleast a 6. But overall the concept car is a jewel.

I agree. I would imagine you can crank out alot on the stock internals. ~300hp should be possible. It'd be a LS1 killer with a few mods, 5th gen? That's still to be determined.

But you can be damned sure people will respect this car and it will turn heads.

The motor should also appear in the Sky Redline. Don't be surprised to see a significant jump in price, tho.

I believe that power estimate is a little on the low side.

I also don't understand what they mean by a "true dual exhaust system". The engine is an inline 4. There are not two separate banks of cylinders...

I'd like to know what clown left the hood open for those spy pics to be taken. Maybe it was left that way intentionally to keep the buzz going for the car... ?

Awesome!

Yeah thats not production. You can also tell by the intercooler pipes that it isnt finished. And speaking of which - I want to see the intercooler they've stuck on there.

I wonder what will happen with a quick turbo/intercooler/intercooler piping/exhaust upgrade? I wonder how much power it'd make....

And how far off do you think the 240hp is? That's a decent number for a "factory boost setting" without going crazy.

Man that thing looks pretty badass! I gotta say, though... they need to get the power output well over 240. The S2000 has been making that for ages now; albeit up until the 04 model year it had to be spun to some ungodly rpm to make that power.

Still... if the pricing and power output is right, along with good quality control... that car should be a BIG winner.

I'm glad to see forced induction done properly with a turbo.

Another vote for, "Thanks GM for going turbo." At least it'll be easy to get extra power out of it.

I'd still love to see a 5.3 aluminum-block DOD motor in it with a 6-speed. With the Vette getting 28 MPG from a 6.0 with no DOD, they might be able to get 30 MPG highway out of this combo.

Then imagine the ad:

300HP V8
30 MPG
Under $30K
Z4, SLK, S2000: GAME OVER

A turbo is not forced induction at all. A supercharger is.

A turbocharger is the very definition of forced air induction. If you want to get really technical, than it could be stated that a turbocharger is a supercharging device.

Turbo and S/C both force air into the engine.
