The Cobra guys really don't have alot too worry about. Mod for mod, they will be walking the SRT-8s, and even though they are lard asses, the Chryslers are even heavier. Hope we get that blown 6.2 in a 5th gen.
The ls1 aftermarket can help but get smaller. The cars that have them are getting older and more rare by the day. How many a year are lost to accidents alone? It wont be profitable to spend the dollars for engineering in the near future.

Uh, what are you talking about. The LS aftermarket is getting bigger by the day. There are plenty of new parts still coming in from the aftermarket, and as long as everything within the LS series of engines is compatible with one another, I can only see this trend continue. You do know you can use LS2 stuff on an LS1, right? Hell, you can use LS7 heads on an LS1, as long as you have the LS7 intake to match, and have at least a 4.060" bore to support the valve size.

Any idea what kind of supercharger, or who makes it?

BTW, that 480 HP was on an engine dyno and not RWHP from hot-rod if I remember correctly.
Yeah, thats what I figured.

I know they'll do 500 on stock displacement, I'm sure of that. As good as the LS1 is, the hemi is gonna be a tough number to beat. I wonder if a canted valve LS engine would fair better, thats the real strength to the hemi, as the valves open they move away from the chamber walls. Well that and the ports are pretty much laid back compared to a parallel valve engine.

I realize that the Hemi heads do flow well, as the design lends itself to that. A set of mildly ported Hemi heads flow over 300 cfm intake, which is definetly nothing to scoff at. I just think the Hemi's aftermarket has alot of catching up to do if they want to compete with the LS1's, and the LS series engines part's compatibility is just something they aren't going to be able to touch. I doubt we will see a canted LS cylinder head any time soon, but the new truck engine's heads are said to be very similar in design to the LS7's, with provisions to support a smaller bore than the LS7's bore. I am interested to see how a set of these heads will flow on an LS1, and I have no doubt these new heads help the GMT-900's get some of the Hp numbers they are coming up with.

It takes a really, really, healthy LS1 on stock displacement to reach 500rwhp NA, but I wonder how much higher the envelope can be pushed with these new heads. I have a lot of hope that the numbers will raise even higher.

i really think the Hemi aftermarket will soar if/when the Challenger comes out. most people with the LX cars aren't looking to go racing with them. but when the pony car hits, we will definetley see some companies step up to make them fly.

yes it was, but still mighty impressive for a 90% stock motor.

I agree with you there. I doubt the LS1 aftermarket would be as big as it is without the Camaro/Firebird.

Re: Something hilairious last Saturday night....

think about if the LS1 was only in FWD cars or if the Caprice lived and it was the only RWD platform to put it in. how many companies would exsist for performance parts?

Better actually. The peak numbers are about the same but the low lift flow numbers on the hemi are better.

Hemi is barely a few years old. The Ford cammer V8 is over 10 years old already. Aftermarket favors longevity.

Aftermarket also favors volume players. LS1 isn't exactly a high production engine compared to the Stang's 4.6. Need more perspective? There are more Chrysler 300s alone rolling around with Hemis than there are LS1 F & Y bodies. If YOU wanted to make money in the aftermarket, which engine would you put your resources and investment in?

The LS1 aftermarket, as far as engines go, it's pretty pityful IMHO. Sure, the aftermarket is better than it was before, but it's still nothing to be proud of by a long shot.
