SOMEBODY associated with Chevrolet pulls the Silverado SS's head out of it's...

... a$$. Sorta... needs to be a little quicker, but a step in the right direction...

http://www.chapmansupertrucks.com/

Press Release:
Chapman Chevrolet Isuzu has taken it upon themselves to offer a Chevy truck that is comparable, both performance and price wise with the Ford Lightning. After many complaints from customers regarding the SS Silverado's measly 345hp, Chapman Chevrolet Isuzu along with Arizona Speed & Marine have created the Chapman Super Truck (CST); a 410 horsepower powerhouse.

Chapman's new Super Truck is Targeted to those customers who want more for their dollar when it comes to performance. The Super Truck will equally compete with Ford's Lightening, both in price and performance. Upon first testing, the CST proved its horsepower with a 13.4-quarter mile at 101mph!

All CST packages are available on any Chevy truck or SUV making it easy to customize your new vehicle right from the dealer showroom. All packages include a Magna Radax supercharger, which is covered by a three-year/36K parts and labor warranty through Arizona Speed and Marine.

GM is late entering the game with this truck.........I don't understand why they would choose to come in at last place.
Tradition is that if you can easily see your competition, it's not hard to be a bit better than them.....................not GM's style though.

Why does a supercharger, headers and cat-back only add-up to 65HP? Is it only 1lb. of boost?

No, and with good reason. I don't consider myself a GM basher but why would I pay over $40,000 for this "SS" when I can get a cheaper Silverado with the same 6.0 motor that is just about as quick as the "SS"?

This truck is embarrassing.

Unless I am wrong and they just changed it--the only way to get a 6.0 in a 1500 is with the 4 door crew cab HD---and it's only a 300hp 6.0

Yeah I was partly wrong. You can get the 6.0 in a 1500 Z71 for probably about $30,000....but I can't see spending $12,000 for 45 more horsepower (which I could get back with a $300 exhaust system and high flow air induction tube), which still won't break the truck into the 14's for gosh sakes.

Are we all forgeting that this modification package isn't GM? I mean the warranty is by Arizona Speed and Marine or something. For $12,000 above normal MSRP, you might as well buy a Lightning while a few are left.

Anyway, I actually understand what the Silverado SS is all about. Its just a LT-spec extended cab with an Escalade motor and Denali AWD components.. Since people regularly spend $40k on loaded Chevy trucks, this actually isn't a bad concept. Especially if you remember the useless Harley Davidon edition F-150 - 2wd with relatively stock 5.4 liter motors.

Of course I have a hard time with the logic behind any expensive pick up. A regular cab, 2wd Silverado SS will still be hard to swallow at just under $30k. For that price I'd be thinking highly incentivized Z71 4x4.

Nope, no one's forgetting that, the point was that someone actually realizes that a customer may like a Silverado SS that actually moves, cost being no factor in the decision.

Actually, I think it looks very nice. But it really needs more horsepower, and obviously needs to be at least a little cheaper. Personally, I think a new Syclone would be far more desirable.

I love the Silverado SS, but..... for that amount of money it should have got the 395HP V8

What I really want to see is a new Canyon based GMC Syclone!!! AWD with a turbo I5. This seems like a no brainer but.......... well you know how GM has been.

I'd love to see a pickup no less, kick some WRX/Evo a$$
