Some SEMA cars
Some SEMA cars
Sorry, I didn't put a pic warning in the title...and now I can't edit it.
I didn't see anything about SEMA in here. Read some stuff about various cars at autoblog and thought might as well make a little thread in here for people that don't get to other sites. There is a little bit of Camaro stuff in the Camaro section though.
Hottest Cars - they name the "hottest" for modifying, not the best tuned one.
Overall: Chevrolet Camaro
Sport Compact: Fiat 500
SUV: Jeep Wrangler
Truck: Ford F-Series
So on to actual cars.
Corvette Carlisle Blue Grand Sport

Just a special edition type concept. It has Carlisle Blue paint with Pearl White stripes, and Cyber Gray Metallic headlamps. The wheels are Torque 2's (that is Chevy Torque 2's, not aftermarket ones) with the Gen 2 Supercar tires. No mechanical upgrades. Optioned with MSRC, the optional six piston calipers, dual mode exhaust and from the catalogue carbon fiber ground effects kit.
Camaro Hot Wheels

Standard LS3. Chevrolet accessory exhaust, STB, Pedders lowering kit, and a myriad of appearance things. The neatest might be the export tail end, which is of course done in black. This has its own thread elsewhere, but it was worth including to represent the "hottest car," ie Camaro.
Super Sonics

There were a bunch of them. One got built as a "racecar" by Pratt and Miller. It doesn't really get any more power though. It is called the Sonic Super 4 and it has rollcage, adjustable coilovers, upgraded brakes and 18x7.5 wheels. Also gets carbon fiber pieces added to the body.
Here is the next Grand Prix GTP Coupe:

It just happens to be made by Honda. It is a supercharged Accord obviously. The supercharged 3.5L V6 puts out 335HP and 285lbft (+64HP and 34lbft compared to the NA V6). It is supposedly just a show car to gauge interest in a more powerful Accord though.
Since we were talking FRS / BTZ in the other thread...
Miata Spyder

Basically a Miata done like the Boxster Spyder. It has a removable red canvas top, as seen. 17" wheels and coilovers. This one runs on isobutanol like their ALMS cars. Allegedly something like this, minus the engine changes, is a possibility for production.
Genesis RM500

It's a Genesis with the Tau 5.0L V8. It has 450HP in here though. Brembo ceramic brakes, 19" wheels and tires, oil cooler, rear diff cooler, lightweight clutch and flywheel, custom exhaust. Carbon fiber aero parts.
What you have all been waiting for... Civic body-in-whites:

The good news... Civic shell costs $3500. The bad news is it is a Civic shell.
If you don't want to build it yourself... Yaris B-Spec Club Racer

For Gran Turismo in real life. Unfortunately it isn't actually for sale, but is going to compete in SCCA.
And the "why?" award goes to...
2011 Mustang with 1968 and '69 body panels

Obviously the panels had to be modified somewhat. This basically checks all the boxes for what not to do IMO...
1) Classic panels on a modern car
2) The "classic" in this case is mostly 1969 Mustang which wasn't a looker to begin with.
3) Flat paintjob... why do people do this? It looks like you just haven't gotten around to clearcoat yet.
4) Overly large wheels with rubber band tires
The mostly 2011 Mustang interior is ok though. The red accents are sort of loud on the steering wheel though.

Re: Some SEMA cars
I shamelessly got these from autoblog.
They had a thread in the Camaro section talking about some of the GM Camaros that were to be there.
https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=837132
It has a few pics of the 1LE if you didn't see them.
Here are the ones autoblog had:

Re: Some SEMA cars
IDK. I kinda like the Mustang. It's execution seems a bit amateurish, but I think the idea works nicely. The fit and finish of the body is not the best, especially in the front end, back end, and quarter window areas. But it was just a 23 year old kid who did this.
And I like the light blue Vette with the white stripes.
I have been saying since they unveiled the concept Camaro that I would love to have a 5th gen Camaro in Glacier Blue with white stripes and a parchment interior.
C'mon Camaro team, give us a light blue!!

Re: Some SEMA cars
Now you are making me feel bad for being so harsh on it.

Re: Some SEMA cars
Thanks for posting this! I saw most of these cars in person...definitely a better show than the last few years. I think the whole mega-overdone wild-as-hell holy crap WTF is that cars are done finally. Seems that the cars there were a touch more thought through then previous years, with more subtle customizations rather than throwing everything possible at it. There were still some that were crazy, but didn't seem to be as much.
Re: Some SEMA cars
I thought the matchbox F-350 was cool
