Some interesting comments on SS.

"We are looking for a minimum level of performance when we badge these future SS vehicles," said Cheryl Catton, director, car marketing and retail integration, for Chevrolet.
Some SS models have not lived up to that level, she said: "The best ones we have are Cobalt and Impala."
Catton said several issues must be addressed now when future SS models are developed: "How does it look? How does it ride? How does it handle? How does it perform?"

Re: Some interesting comments on SS.
I agree that the Cobalt and Impala versions of the SS are pretty strong for their market segement.
I'd also have to say that TrailBlazer SS is a strong verison of the performance badge as well.
Finally, if Impala SS is strong as far as the execution of the SS theme, then Monte Carlo SS would have to be considered so as well.

Malibu SS
Silverado SS
Trailblazer SS
Cobalt SS
Impala/Monte Carlo SS:blah:
The Impala/Monte Carlo treatment has it right power wise but the styling and handling aspect just isnt there IMO. And this article is a good sign for the future, not just a body kit or and engine, but hopefully the whole package!

Re: Some interesting comments on SS.
I wonder why they mentioned the Impala SS but not the Monte Carlo SS?
I may be wrong, but I suspect the MC SS being a bit lighter than the Impala is the 3rd quickest and fastest car in the showroom, behind Corvette and Z06.
Monte SS is marginally quicker than an LT1 and does run 155 mph now.

The Impala/Monte Carlo definately have it in the power.. but putting that power down is the problem... FWD and 300HP arent the greatest combination... also styling wise they could be better.
I definately agree that there needs to be some kind of standard that an SS needs to live up to. I think the supercharged version should be the only SS in the cobalt line up. All of the SS vehicles in the lineup are fun to drive but that isn't enough to make them SS to me. The trailblazer SS is really great. Out of the current SS lineup it would be the one I would want the most. And as far as the Monte Carlo being faster than the Impala. It didn't feel that way. Actually the Malibu Maxx SS felt like the fastest of the cars to me. But that was strictly seat of the pants.
I agree -- the Cobalt SS Supercharged should be the only Cobalt SS.
Malibu and Malibu Maxx SS need more power. 240hp isn't enough in a car that size to be worthy of the SS badge.
What's wrong with the Silverado SS? Yeah, LS2 would be nice (especially for parity with TBSS), but it looks good and performs well.
