Re: Solstice Wont Sell Here In Oregon

Screw the dealers. I would rather buy my new vehicles direct from GM on the Internet and have it home delivered ANYHOW!

I hate going to any dealer because I usually know more then the salesmen (In our area) and I just want to look - and they usually end up annoying the **** out of me. One especially called me every 3 days for 3 weeks when I finally told the dude to chill.

Or to have them smoking when they're trying to talk to you, blowing smoke in your face (among other places). As far as them calling you at home, go in with the name and phone number of someone you don't like at work, make sure you give them the work number too .

It'll look good on 'em when GM decides to ax Pontiac.

GM cannot and does not sell directly to individuals via the internet. It's against those same franchise laws. Even though you are getting a home delivery, you are still purchasing from a dealership. What you are avoiding is the whole scripted salemman / sales manager / finance manager experience.

I understand that and I understand there are laws against it "right now". But I still would rather buy DIRECT from GM if the option was available.

I gave them the # to Burgerking once last summer when I was looking for my current car

First, let me say that dealers like this make me sick.

Take your business elsewhere. Tell that dealer that you are making a roadtrip, or even flying out to Michigan to buy your Solstace, where they don't mark up the cars. You will still save a bundle vs. what he wants to charge. Then see his reaction.

Too many GM/Delphi employees around here can buy the GM vehicles with the employee discount, that dealer can't afford to mark up cars like that. No one would buy them.

Was this the only one they had? A lot of times they mark a new car up to rediculas levels so that no one will buy the one that draws in orders. They most likely NEVER expected anyone to buy it for that price.

Does anyone have any hard numbers on how many of these are going to be made? I would like to go in there with some facts.

Re: Solstice Wont Sell Here In Oregon

Makes me wonder what will happen to the 5th gen when/if it comes out. Or is it a forgone conclusion that these will be marked up as well?

Scary that some people won't be able to affrod them, just because the dealerships think they're entitled to more money.

And to whoever made the Corvette comparison, that's just about right. I would just laugh at anyone that told me a Solstice was going to cost me almost as much as a Vette. "See ya, I'll be at the Chevy dealership".

what is the phone # of that dealer? or at least tell us what zip code you are in. I'd like to call and ask what I should spend Vette money on a Solstice.

You've done that too? For me it was the local grocery store I used to work at years ago...

Surprisingly, in the 5 years I've sold cars, I've never done ONE followup where someone lied to me about their #. Maybe its because I never asked $37k for a $23k car, or whatever the asinine markup is.

BTW, if anyone wants a Solstice, PM me. Out of respect for Jason and the website, I'm not going to go out here soliciting sales, but if anyone really wants one, shoot your inquiry my way...I'll order you whatever the hell you want, and it will be MSRP (or maybe less if I can convince the old buzzard to dicker a little...). We've already sold 5 this year, and I'm not sure how many allocations we'll get because we're small. With a sold order though, I know it can get preferential treatment in terms of ordering, versus dealer stock. I don't know if we'll even get one for stock this year

What's amazing here is that there have been stunningly few inquiries on the Solstice. Great thing for a customer is that our first allocation is coming up in the next days, and if someone wants one the way they want it, they can! If anyone's interested at MSRP, PM me too!

One person asked about when the Camaro comes out......see what happened with the Mustang GT's?......sadly, expect alot of the same from many dealers in the first months when it goes on sale....
