Re: The Solstice GXP is here!

after looking at it more I think the interior needs a boost gauge plus why are they not putting 6 speed transmissions into this? Afraid that it'll step on the Corvette's toes too much or something?

OT: Although it's perhaps wrong to say... if my SS Commodore came without the tall 6th, my car would be a more satisfying drive. 6th gear (3.45 diff, geared at 42 mph/1000rpm) is there to confuse the driver of which gear to select for cruising. I engage 6th when I'm doing just over 60mph but it is really only effective for 70mph+ speeds (we have strict Draconian speed laws here... fixed speed cameras, 2 mph over the limit and you get a $AUD150 bill in the mail.. ). A close ratio gearbox certainly helps... but 5 speeds can be adequate especially if 5th is geared for flexibility.

I can't believe I wrote the above as I still prefer 6 speeders to 5. Maybe its the stupid speed laws that are affecting my sanity.

I would be in some serious trouble over there down under.

Another reason GM builds the best engines in the world.

2 over the limit and you get a photo radar ticket? What a load of crap!

I hope they have a feature by default where if cops or politicians involved in supporting that system get caught speeding off duty or off-emergency, even by 2 mph that they automatically get fired.

Neat car. I predict that it is not a 1200psi fuel system.

It's still a soft top, though, right? I might wait for the high performance version of the sky and see what their lease rates are.

OK, why not?

Direct injected Diesel engines use motor driven fuel pumps which have much higher fuel pressures. . . like 20,000 psi+

Re: The Solstice GXP is here!

I'm having a hard time warming up to the revised facia. Maybe it's the color, but it just doesn't work for me. If they could have figured something out with the 2.4l Ecotec currently in it and still kept it looking the same, that would be something.

I'll stick with my cat-back exhaust & intake that I have coming from GMPD. Then I'll look at forced induction.

Either way, the car is a winner and will sell every Solstice GXP they can build.

Re: The Solstice GXP is here!

Is GM going to allow the aftermarket to tune this car or are they going to keep the ecu locked up tight? I'm sure we'll see staged packages in the future from GM. I hope they dont' try to keep a stranglehold on tuning it, though.
