Re: Solstice coupe!!!

Autoweek said a removable hardtop was planned for the Solstice roadster. FRC has not been confirmed.

Re: Solstice coupe!!!

I have heard of the convertible hardtop version of the Solstice in development. That would be nice, but if Pontiac or Saturn makes a genuine coupe version of the Solstice or Sky then I am first in line to drop a deposit down on one!

you are right but I live in a climate where we get winter. Snow and freezing temps. I would never subject my self to driving a convertible in those conditions. Or put the car throught that

It won't sell. It's a nice car with no market. After the intial orders are filled sales will taper off.

we'll see. Fieros sold very well for the first few years---and they were less then steallar. The best were in 88 but by then people had become very wary of them. So , if they get the Solstice right.....it should not suffer the same fate.

The fiero was a media darling and sold like hotcakes until the fire issues. The press made this a widely known problem and the car could not recover from it. Even though the instances were very low and only in early models. There is not much chance of a probem like that coming up in present day cars.

I do also. I would not drive the coupe or convertable in the winter. Thats why I have trucks as well!

I second that!
If there's a Sky coupe, I may have to own one.

Re: Solstice coupe!!!

The Miata is only currently selling around 10,000 units in the US, the decision by GM to build 2 competitors is very questionable. On top of that the hydroformed body panels will limit production since it is a very time consuming process.

Now if one of the cars had been a 2 seat coupe exclusively (maybe even mid-engine), that would have been a better strategy.

I wouldnt be suprised to see a price increase for 07 solstice, so that the car might actually turn a profit.
