Solstice coupe!!!

After the convertible was approved I beleive the coupe version was dead

Car and Driver quoted Automotive news as saying that the coupe has a good chance for a 2007 model

Anyine else hear this?

This would be great. Cheaper, lighter and faster the convertible
Convertibles are nice but I would never want one for a daily driver. The Solstice coupe had some classic lines to it as well.

I could see a coupe outselling the convertible.

Re: Solstice coupe!!!

Last I heard there was a Kappa coupe planned for another GM division.

I will qualify this by saying I don't know how true it is.

I'm fairly certain it is in development now along with the turbo Sol. If not in development, it's certainly on the drawing board and very near approval.

Convertables have come a long way. They make great daily drivers now that they dont leak and the wind noise is controlled.

Sweet. In St. Louis, you only get a few good months a year for convertable season. Cheaper, lighter, less maintenance I hope they do a coupe for the Sky Redline.

Re: Solstice coupe!!!

There is a coupe version being developed for the Solstice. Pontiac would like to race the Solstice in the SCCA events, but the rules require a hardtop. There are two thoughts. One is a new coupe version of the Solstice, the other is a removable hardtop version.

A removable hardtop would make this car a must buy for most people.

Maybe they'll call it the Firebird.

GM had told us this is being developed as we speak. It may even be validated by now. This was a concern brough up in many Solstice training modules. I would like to think that we'll see it in 2007MY, if not sooner.

Hmmm... Chevy the VOLUME brand is without a Kappa at all.

And people have been buzzing about seeing a LOT of new unexpect stuff soon. Wasn't there also reports of a Chevy Kappa being tested in Az?

Would that be a stretched 2+2 Kappa with room for eight? (As in V8.)

Re: Solstice coupe!!!

C&D indeed did report a Solstice coupe is being worked on for an '07 debut...it did NOT say it was necessarily just a removable hardtop for the convertbile, either I was under the impression this is a full blown coupe!

Maybe I was wrong to suspect all the doom and gloom for Pontiac too quickly?

There is a lot of dis-information floating around right now. Let the dust settle a little before we get too excited.
