Sold a GTO, drove a GTO
Re: Sold a GTO, drove a GTO
allocation rules have to stand up in court. (ask anyone at Honda...esp. the ones that went to jail....)
Can't have "special" ...although you CAN insist on special training and tools....as we do on Corvette...thus, not every Chevy dealer is a Corvette dealer....only less than, I believe, 200 are not.

RP, don't you dare scold those dealers.
They could have sold EVERYLASTONE of those 16,000-18,000 GTO's for $29-$31K.Instead, they're going to wait for me to pick one up in 6 months...for under $25,000.
Has anyone seen Barbados Blue?

Yeah, I've seen all the colors in person except Barbados Blue. Looks pretty nice in pictures though.

Thanks Red for the review of my review
And I agree with you 125% on the "bad boy" attitude that makes an F body an F body. THAT is what makes me love the 30th...its an engine with 4 wheels. I personally don't have a problem with that. Fine, give it a better quality interior (I personally enjoy the design and materials in the '97+ interior very much!) and an updated chassis and body design...
But I STILL want a motor with 4 wheels. Its a concept even my 47 year old mother embraces wholeheartedly. When my dad test drove my 30th 4 years ago he took my mom with him. She never drove it, but even she couldn't get over it. Her exact words were "I can't think of any time I've been hurtled down the road like that in my life! It just shoves you." Funny, she says the same thing now about Dad's '02 Formie
Red, I want a new motor with 4 wheels to go with my old motor with 4 wheels. And make it bad *** while you're at it
Not rednecky mind you (me thinking '98+ WS6 hood), but sleek and bad ***. Attitude sells...how else can you explain Harley's return to profitability after being nearly bankrupt 20 years ago? If you just wanted a quality bike, a Honda Gold Wing does the trick

On a side note, went down to Buzz to check out the trunks and rear seat access in the '04's (got a one year old to think about)...and man, that trunk is smallllll. Throw the stroller in, and most of its gone. And forget any big pieces of luggage. Backseat access was ok, but would probably be a PITA after a while. You have to release the seatback w/ a handle on the side which doubles as the seat belt guide I think...then hold a little button until it's all the way forward. Would have been better if it just automatically slid forward when you tilted the seat back up, instead of sitting there holding a little button for 10 secs (w/ an armload of baby in the other). Ahhh, children
.On a funny note, the salespersons SUPERVISOR tried to tell me that the GTO could whip a C5..especially in the slalom. Hmmm, higher cg, 500 lbs more weight...right. Oh by the way, if you have GM points, throw that onto their discounts...new '04 down to 25,950 for me right now
, but I think I'm gonna stick w/ my used C5 shopping. And this takes the cake, not thread related, but I have to tell someone. Went over to the Chevy dealer next door to check on any used C5's, wandered through the new Corvettes, and some dumb*ss salesman comes out to pester me, and I tell him I was just passing through to check on used C5's...and the bozo didn't know what a C5 was!!!! This is a chevy "salesman" surrounded by about 40 C5's. I asked him if he was kidding, and he WAS NOT
. Unreal.

JUST DON'T CALL IT A GTO!!!!
(Sarcasm off)
Re: Sold a GTO, drove a GTO
I'd rather keep the buckets in back myself. Other than the trunk issue and the back seat access issue, I love the car. It's one of those that looks much better in person. I'd lose the spoiler though.

Re: Sold a GTO, drove a GTO
I'll third that one. The 05 promo pic sans spoiler, makes for a cleaner looking car. So, that begs the question that if the spoiler is neither optional nor a delete option, why is there an official promo pic of the car without the spoiler?
I'd be somewhat disappointed as a potential customer as well with the trunk... err, I mean lack of trunk and the apparently slow power seat actuation for access to the back. CLEAN, I too can appreciate the frustration this would cause since I have two children under the age of five; one an infant. A quick release seat would be in order.
Hey, just cause ya have kids doesn't mean your'e ready for that minivan! Hell no!

Re: Sold a GTO, drove a GTO
Amen!!
I have had the opportunity to drive several minivans. Do not want one at all. While they're nice - but only if equipped with an uplevel suspension, actually buying one would be like a death knell, as in game over.
With only two children I don't feel that I am now, in any way, out of the market for an affordable sporty car. There just aren't any available from GM at the moment - in Canada. Hopefully when the new "Camaro" and/or GTO debuts, the event will dovetail nicely with the end of my current lease.
What this world really needs is more responsible family planning... based upon the number of available seating positions in that sporty coupe ya just gotta have. JK
