Post Another aspect of the new GTO that we haven't discussed.

What the new GTO will do for the old GTO. I think it will spark a real interest in the original GTOs. The new GTO is bound to help the GTO hobby as a whole. As if the GTO prices weren't high enough now. When the new car hits, alot of people will want an old AND a new in their garage. GTO prices will probably skyrocket.

$35k for a new one plus around $10k (good) - $20k (mint) for an original? I agree lots of people will want that.. who wouldn't? but those who will be able to afford it are few. I doubt it'll have any significant impact.

There's other performance sedans in the market. Everything from the flat 14 sec maxima, low to mid 14 sec altima, to the pricey m3 and such. Sure, they aren't v8's but they are rwd vehicles with a good mixture of both features and performance.

The Maxima and Altima are FWD. I also doubt they run as fast as you say they do.

This post isn't about other cars. This post is about the impact the new GTO will have on the old GTO.
And I just looked thru a Hemming's today. 100 point concours GTOs are $30K-$40K. And then look at a '71 'vert and yer talking in the $50s. WOW.

Would you people stop assigning unreal numbers to maxima/altima? How many times will i have to bring up real data from various sources, including the manufacturer?

Maxima is at best a 14.6 second car, trapping 96 mph with 255HP engine. You will NOT have maxima trap a flat 14, no matter how how you try.

Altima does similar times with its 240HP engine, but it also weighs 100 lbs less than maxima.

Both are FWD vehicles, maxima is rumored to be put onto RWD platform in the future.

These are very quick cars, but lets not assign them honor that isn't due.
