So what's the deal with the Silverado SS?
This news all sounds great! I really hope they offer it in multiple configurations. Reg. cab or ext., RWD or AWD. I don't see how it could not be a winner! unless the price tag is ridiculous.
on a side note, i seen an ad for a dealership in indiana advertising a new silverado SS for $32k!

The gentleman over at SilveradoSS.com is Merv, and he has an inside track with GM. He is the one who said that the only changes for the '05 model year are options changes (and no supercharger). He specifically said no powertrain changes. Now, what happens after the '05 model year............. who knows.
On that note, I was driving to the Valley (Phx metro area)yesterday (to get the stitches out of my wrist from surgery), and saw GM testing Silverados. You can always tell it is them............. they have manufacturers Michigan plates on............. a bunch of numbers on the windshield.............. and are towing empty trailers of the horse type or enclosed car type (you know............ to make sure they don't overheat with empty trailers, since so many people tow trailers around for the hell of it). Anyway, there was a regular Silverado short bed and what looked like an SS, but with a standard Silverado front bumper on it (it had all the standard SS stuff like wheels, cladding, and such). It had to be drivetrain testing. The SS was having problems as it had to stop at the top of every large incline.
Anyway, this isn't the first time I have seen this. About 6 months before the Colorado/Canyon came out, they were doing the same thing here.
If their schedule holds true, whatever they were testing is probably slated to come out in the next 6-months to a year.

Next up for GM Performance Division will be a Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS, a 2006-model-year entry that will feature a Corvette-inspired V-8 engine, 20-inch wheels and a lower suspension than the current production model. The production TrailBlazer SS will be based on the TrailBlazer SS concept originally shown at the 2002 SEMA show. Reuss' team is working up plans for other vehicles as well.
It is getting the SIlverado SS 6.0L
Merv states he has no official word on powertrain upgrades. This may very well mean that there won't be...but i'm hoping he hasn't been given the upgrade info...or he has been given it, but told he can't talk about it. There seems to be a lot of rumbling from other insiders indicating there will be an upgrade.
