So what if Ethanol became cheap and widely available?

Is there anyway to find out what is at the pump for sure?

In the DFW area there are some stickers on the pumps that indicate the blend of ethanol. Here it's 10%. I think this was do to the replacement of MTBE and a requirement made by the EPA due to our air quality.

I agree with that. Its what this nation has done all along its history in coming up with new ideas, technology, etc. Time to continue that and find a way to solve this problem instead of bowing down to it.

A factory turbocharged vehicle (ala LNF or ford's new ecoboost) thats flex-fuel might get more out of E85... My GTP takes premium... If I could run E85 over premium I would. Out here regular is $4.10 and premium is $4.30.

Even with an effective cost of $3.92/gallon, its still 10% cheaper fuel - and I could upgrade my pulley

We get labels on the pumps here in Michigan, too (where the vast majority of our gasoline contains 10% ethanol).

Ethanol originally was indeed conceived as a good replacement for MTBE, but the fact that it's not based on petroleum has done wonders to extend our limited liquid-fuel supplies. If that last 10% of each gallon had to be something derived from oil, we'd all be hurtin' a lot more at the pump right now

Any future that doesn't displace a significant amount of oil-based fuels with alternatives is bound to be bleak.

Time to get off our backsides and make that happen.

Although I'd be getting a little worse gas mileage, I can kick up the boost and timing and have a little fun Supposedly E85 equates to about 100-105 octane IIRC, so it's almost like running "race fuel".
What kind of car do you have, do you have more information on it? I was considering it for my Buick.

I'd rip my tranny apart for sure.

I guess I would have to add an auxiliary fuel tank to my Formula so I could get some decent range.
