I thought it was weird the G5 didn't offer the turbocharged engine, being the "performance" division, and Chevy had the turbo in the Cobalt, with Chevy being the volume cookie cutter division.

Probably take at least that long to sort things out in bankruptcy court.

If they started shutting down Pontiac today. It took about 2-3 years to shut down Oldsmobile.

Buick would likely be the 1st on the block since Pontiac is still GM's 2nd largest division, G8 is typically in the top 3 best selling GM cars and the G5 is doing very well when you compare it's sales to import FWD coupes.

Point is, Pontiac isn't going anywhere in the immediate future.

In a way, it was.

Then, like now, it was called the Holden Commodore.

Guy, we all know that GM Australia has been making awesome full-size cars for a LONG time, but like you've said, it takes GMNA a LOOONGG time to make decisions to bring cars to market. The 2000 Caprice would have been the perfect platform to bring the full-size market back to GM.

You want to force buyers into smaller cars than they want? If they continue to do that, then buyers will move back into full-size trucks and SUVs... AGAIN!

Our last two cars were Gran Prix's... I don't think a G8 will be a suitable replacement, and a G6 is just not big enough it seems.

I was getting stuck in 1" of snow with my GTO. My Grand Prix will go thru 6" of snow and get 31mpg on the highway. You wont be doing either of those with a G8.

The Grand Prix is dead because of it's ugly 2004 redesign...which turned off a lot of core buyers. Rather than realizing it screwed up the design, GM thought people did not want large, FWD performance cars anymore and the Grand Prix and LaCrosse in the same showroom would be overlap. In reality they just don't want ugly cars...and NO ONE who was a Grand Prix customer is buying a LaCrosse...they are buying cars like the Altima and Maxima.

Same here. I actually have to put my snow tires back on. I have aftermarket 18" wheels/tires that are not compatible with snow. The car is fine with snow tires though.

Go figure, a dedicated snow tire out perfomring an all season tire. I would think snow tires would be de rigueur in Michigan.

They won't be able to afford the gas to drive them now that everyone realizes you can't live on a credit card.

But you know SUV drivers, they'd lose their house just to have the "right" to drive their big *** road monster.
