So I read the review of the 07 Tahoe in the new Motor Trend and...

For now I'll just state I was shocked when I saw only a 2 tenth of a second improvement in 0-60. I thought 'surely that can't be right with this 400hp HO 5.3L and 6-speed auto I keep hearing about'. I look and sure enough. Only 320hp and 4-speed auto.

So what gives? When do the big guns come to the GMT-900 platform, because I was under the impression that it was going to be a simultaneous launch?

I think someone else had posted here the 6-speed was going to see limited availablity this year. It's a shame, not to jump to conclusions or anything BUT this seems a typical GM shortcoming, hype new tech and trickle it out.

Hopefully, some more positive info will surface.

We've known the 325 horse 5.3 would be the motor in the Tahoe to start for a while now. 400 HP (plus?) is coming in the new 6.2 L92. That motor will first be available in the Escalade and will probably trickle down to the Chevys eventually. It stinks that they still have to use up the 4 speeds but it appears they simply can't ramp up production of the 6 speeds quick enough.

Especially when the A6 was more or less designed w/ the GMT900's in mind, and is already in use by Chevrolet and Cadillac

Escalade gets the 6 speed (at least for 1st year) and 403HP 6.2L

Tahoe will also have a 6.0L 355HP w/ DoD for 2007
