It's always nice to have competition, and the C-pillar gives the DTS-L a nicer formal look. But Lincoln OWNS this market. As much as I love the 300 and it's RWD, I'd say even LWB versions of this car isn't going to cause Ford to lose sleep at night (not just because there's plenty of other reasons, either).

One example, there was a big issue with Lincoln's trunk size when it was redone in '99. Ford answered with a redesigned tail with more luggage space. I see the stubby tail of the 300, and I suspect it's going to have the same issue.

There's alot more to getting into the Livery business than just adding some inches to the midsection of the car & having more rear legroom.

On a similar note, although Charger is generating quite a bit of intrest (and some sales), I suspect it's also going to be awhile before it catches on. Crown Victorias have been a Police staple for so long that you can get preassembled and specialized law enforcement parts and accessories in such a wide variety and relative low prices that it reminds you of all the 5.0 Mustang items available 10-15 years ago. Impala's are fewer and generally seem to cost more. Charger is new, so there seems to be fewer extras for it, save the normal stuff.

Horrible idea. Caddy is trying to go after the primo luxury market...so they make a vehicle directed for fleets.
This car is a waste.

I see lots and lots of regular Caddy DTS limo/livery cars around here (especially doing airport pickup duty).

I think the car looks sweet. Obviously it is targeted for a specific use; it is not the "ultra luxury" car we've been waiting for.

I don't see why they can't do both.

I think that is the point of the DTS-L it will basically be a Luxury taxi and used just like Limos are used today.

SLS has a different target market, kind of like the Executive Edition Escalade or a BMW 760L.
