Not so hard to understand is it?
Well, assuming I am referring to your site.... I don't see how someone who says it is "wrong" to show the pictures, thinks it is OK to link to them, regardless of where they are hosted... regardless of what GM themselves even said.

As for the automation to the homepage... it obviously does not automate to every single thread, or this list of 10 would change so fast, it would be pretty useless. I would think the administration of the site would have to be aware of what goes there, and would hope it watches those special posts that get selected by the automation... and you apparently know the post is there.

Before, GM was giving advance access to information to websites. Now they do not. That puts me in a situation where #1-I have no idea whats embargoed and whats a nice photshop and #2-I have no stake in making sure the info stays embargoed untill the date GM set.

That has changed my outlook on the whole situation.

This DOES change the situation... I will admit if you do not know they are embargoed pics, it makes it hard to block them.

and #2-I have no stake in making sure the info stays embargoed untill the date GM set.
But... if it is a matter of "integrity" like you have said before... when you find out they ARE embargoed, it shouldn't matter what your "stake" in it is...

True, but first you have to know if, and when they are embargoed too. Notice, I did remove them soon as it was made known they are embargoed.

The 05 GTO/SSR info did because they had half a model years worth of 04's to sell. When you know 05 GTO will have 400HP and hood scoops for not much of a price increase...why would you buy an 04, which at the time had no rebates.

If GM doesnt want the public to see the images before hand, why do they put them on the media site? They cant be that naive (sp?) to think the pictures will not leak until x day.

The pictures are not posted on a public webiste. The website is a password protected site that allows certain members of the media to access the pictures.
The problem here is that GM no longer give us access to prior pictures, so we dont know of any embargoed pictures anymore. In the case of teh 05 GTO/SSR, they did know that they were embargoed and were posted anyway.
Why should any site be held accountable for GM's lack of security of pictures? No one knew about the pictures being embargoed, and as soon as the pictures hit the web, it spread like wildfire, as things of this nature tend to do.
As for thinking someone will always do that, well this is what happens when they do. They grouped all websites together and cut our ties to the pictures.
GMI has always stuck to embargo dates per GM's request. This picture snuck out of GM and found its way across the web as being "one great photoshop".

OK, that is totally retarded. Make it available, and no matter how secure, security will be breached at some point.

If anyone is that deeply concerned about images being released 2/3 months earlier, do not make them available at all, media or no media. Especially in this day and age when information can be sent electronically in split seconds and spread through the internet like gangrene.

I'm trying to figure out why GM would be trying to keep that picture under wraps anyway, I mean any goof with a vague knowledge of what the Z06 might include could've done a chop like that. I'm not surprised at all with how it looks.

Re: so apparently that z06 pic is real. ?

Branden I'm taking exception to a few of your posts. First "my site had the 05 GTO/SSR information on it." We did have the information that is correct. BUT we had the information WELL BEFORE anybody else had the information. In fact, we had the information before it was posted on any official GM related website.

I seem to remember when news surfaced on C&G you, and your cronies were scrambling to discredit us (C&G) into saying "That's BS, it's not going to happen." Much like you've tried to discredit us in the past. Truth be told Branden, you're really not as big as the company you claim to "worship."

Saying I live in a glass house and throw stones is ludicrous. When has C&G ever, EVER broken an embargo in ANY information? When as C&G NOT conceded into General Motors wishes when something was posted on our website?

Remember the Avalanche picture, you know the one that was posted over on GMI just a few months ago? GM called you about it right? You didn't listen at first.

Here's a bit of information. That picture was on C&G nearly a year to the DATE it was posted on GMI. Except, GM called us, we immediately took it down and did our best to keep it under wraps.

When there are pictures out there that I, Walt or any moderator think cut it "close" to an official GM image, we don't play the dummy "oops, I swear Mr. GM I didn't know it was real" role. Instead, we take PRO-ACTIVE steps.

In living in the Detroit area and being so close to GM people, do you really think I don't know what goes on? Your website is primarily responsible for media access being restricted for all enthusiast websites.

So, drive your Comp G (how's that Ford doing by the way?) Make sure to tell Rex to buckle up when he drives his non-GM SMART car (What an Enthusiast!) and take it easy. Maybe we'll see you at NAIAS, then again, you've managed to screw everybody out of press passes also.

Congrats.

If I had a dime for every mile of **** that comes out your mouth I would be rich.

There is no point in dragging you and your little vendeta for my site on to other forums. I think it is clear where the success is being had.

Also last I checked, GM invited my site to the 05 GTO intro this week with the regular press? I wonder if they will see anyone from your site there?

On that account I am leaving this thread...have a nice day
