From March 8 Automotive News: Gray Marketers could be selling smart two seaters in the US by this summer. 2 US companies have been granted permission by the Federal Government to do so. (One says it can sell 15,000 annually) Both say they could be on sale in 90 days if final EPA certification is granted as expected NHTSA has ruled that the cars are eligible for importing to the US It is likely that the cars will be imported from Canada (the US has a blanket agreement with Canada allowing vehicles to be imported if they have US required restraint systems) G&K automotive systems is negotiating with ~100 non MB car dealerships to sell the car in 6-8 weeks.
