Exclamation 2006 Z06

I got my new issue of GMHTP today and they had a tiny little paragraph about the 2006 Z06. It is goin to have a 427-cu. in LS7! with rumors of 3 valves/per cylinder, and 575 hp(not confirmed)
definately sounds like a viper and GT killer.

We've heard about the 575hp 427ci rumor.

Whether it turns out ot be true or false, that'd would make for one sweet vette.

I have heard it will not be 7 L, but will be more like 6.2L. The rest seems correct, from all I've heard. My guess is the dry-sump 427 will appear in the so-called Blue Devil Corvette, but not the Z06, if the price is to remain at all reasonable.

It was originally going to be a 6.4L but that has been scratched in favor of a 7.0L Gen IV V8

I hope 3v heads make it to the 427. If it has 3v then I beleive the 575 #. 2v 427s are already making 500-600HP+

how are they making 3v heads and still making it a pushrod engine? I think that would be interesting to see how that works

Go down to where it says "GM small block gets three-valve head"

You can also find some good posts about it if you search.

Read the other thread. I still stand firmly that the Z06 will not have 575 HP. If it does, it will not be targeted to the same market that it is now. It will cost MUCH more.

My money is on that this is for the Blue Devil.

Is the bet that its is rated at 575HP or dynoing at 575HP (crank)?

If it is a 2v then I would guess 500HP, 3v 575HP

There is no such thing in the United States. One of our freedoms, for now, is that we can buy however much HP Detriot can produce.

I fear as we are seeing 500-600+ hp cars available in showrooms, that eventually enough idiots will kill themselves in these cars (Z06s, Vipers, Ford GTs, etc. etc.) that some well meaning but misguided legislator will offer a bill, either at a state level or in Congress...to limit HP. Either that or insurance rates on those cars will make them pre-emptively expensive to own.

Do you still think a 500hp Z06 Vette is possible for $60K or less?
