Very nice. It seems there is a good bit of power that is held back with some of the simple factory components.

for a brick to go that fast in the 1/4, that's some real power!

Yeah, I guess that Vector tune is good for almost half a second. Wonder what this package would be like with a 6L80?

it would probably not need the stall converter with a 6l80E

I have not driven a Trailblazer SS yet...but if it has the same steering, and ANYWHERE near the same handling and one of the three I have owned....I would say going 106MPH in one would be the most frightning car experiance I could invision.

The handling is much better than a regular TB. It's no Corvette though...or even SSR. It has alot of body lean. And if you're used to driving a sporty car, the TB SS will sort of freak you out in a turn...like you're going to tip over or something. Which you won't of course.

That is impressive, but it was kind of a letdown when I saw it was a 2wd one.

An awd one w/ similar mods would probably run 13.0@103mph.

He's got ~$1300 in mods, so that's not too bad.

Don't forget the early 90's turbo Cyclone and Typhoon

Those trucks ran good times stock, and sick with bolt ons. There are a lot of videos floating around, even races against Supras.

The owner seemed to think he would have gotten better times that he did if he had AWD.

I disagree.
He turned real good 60ft's. His 60fts w/ the AWD may drop by 1 tenth, but he'll lose 2-3 mph due to drivetrain loss and 200+ extra lbs of weight.

I think I have a good feel for this coming from owning a Syclone, and my brother owned one that went 11.0@126, and a typhoon and 2 more syclones.

Also, I love it how the TBSS owners like to compare their modded vehicles against the SRT8 GC.

Did us LS1 fbody owners care when a guy bought a 2002 Mustang GT and did mild modifications to run slightly quicker than us?? NO, we knew that if we had those same mods that we'd in turn, be quicker. (or all other LS1 fbody owners would say, "Yeah, you need mods to beat us".)

On the other side of the coin, the SRT8 owners @ www.srt8oc.com look embarrasingly stupid, totally disbelieving the results. The one guy sounds like a 12 year old making all kinds of stupid comments about running 10's and being John force, etc.

I've got an AWD version in the driveway right now as a test vehicle for Autoblog.com. Not to ruin the surprise of the review's conclusion or 'fess up to any rowdy behavior, but I can safely say that this vehicle's handling is far better than it has any right to be, and I would have no concerns whatsoever about driving it through the traps at that speed.

It didn't take too many miles behind the wheel before I starting thinking about replacing my Impala SS and my Caprice wagon with an AWD TrailBlazer SS - this is an amazing vehicle.

I have to respectfully suggest that you're exaggerating just a bit - this thing is in absolutely no danger of dragging its doorhandles. Any problems I initially had with throwing it around were related not to the vehicle's handling dynamics, but simply that my brain knew this was an SUV.

Quite honestly, on real-world roads, this is one of the best-handling vehicles I've ever driven. Is there a deep pothole on the outside of the turn, or maybe some gravel that's been dragged from the shoulder onto the pavement? No worries - just keep on the throttle and point the wheel where you want to go. Sure, on a billard-smooth racetrack, a bit stiffer suspension might help, but it is absolutely dead-nuts perfect for the roads we have here in the Rust Belt.
