Problem is, it doesnt look good either... Infinity is apparently in a race with Lexus to build a car completely devoid of character...

Logic doesn't matter... Skyline is MADE BY JAPANEESES THEREFORE IT MUST ALWAYS BE AMAZING!

Eh... some angles it looks ok(ish), but it still looks a bit overdone to me. Definately loose the ricey looking 'commando' wing and replace it with a wing less tacky or functional ducktail style rear spoiler.

From what I know at the moment, I'd take a new C6 Z06 long before the new skyline. But I guess we'll have to see how things turn out.

Looking at the new IS I would say the opposite is true. Lexus is still conservative in terms of styling, but they are headed in the right direction. Besides; character doesn't necessarily mean it stands out. Some car's character is to be understated... not overstated.

I think the AWD Coupe will do well.

The new IS is boring. A friend lease is up in about a year and the sales guy started pushing a new one to her, but she thought it was just too "blah" (direct quote).

The R34 Skyline GT-R is a pretty impressive automobile. It has incredible upgrade potential, and a very advanced suspension and computer system making for damned good handling considering it's a heavy car. There is a lot of fanboyism on them in the USA, but that stuff happens. Just look at this board, every single thread about any sports car has had a bunch of "YEAH WELL CORVETTE IS BETTER IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE WAY!!1" replies. Some people are just fanboys, for all brands.

This thing sounds pretty cool. I bet it won't look so much like a G35 when it comes out, methinks that's their way of giving it a disguise from spy shots

I really REALLY hope thats not how the new Skyline is gonna look. Sure its a beast in the power dept. (it needs to be weighing in at nearly 4k lbs.) and I'm sure it will handle well, but for god's sake Nissan dont make it look like the current G35 coupe! I loved the boxy, muscular looks of the GT-R models and a beefed up G35 coupe just doesnt do it in the styling dept. for a GT-R. Hopefully the real thing will look different. Hopefully.

Thats pretty impressive. Knocking down 35 mpg while cruising with 350 horses. I could definetly dig that.

They are absolutly disgusting! Those better come off...

Other than that, that thing sounds menacing..should be a good car versus the Z06. If Honda redesigns the NSX, Toyota redesings the Supra and DCX brings out that Firepower car, the segment should be pretty damn good.
Hmmm.. IMO, until Honda a) starts building V8s for the NSX or b) gets into turbocharging it's V6 or c) magically shaves 800 lbs off the NSX, Honda isn't going to be able to compete with the big boys who're packing 5+ liter V8s or turbo sixes. I mean, unless the new NSX motor revs to 14 k RPM like an F1 car, 6 cyclinders and approx 3 liters N/A in a car that weighs around the same as the current NSX isn't going to cut it. Esp. in an 80K plus vehicle; and I don't care how much they play up the 'driving dynamics'. The current NSX is outgunned and needs another 100-150 HP at least to keep up. And Honda needs to stop the handbuilt stuff so they can get the MSRP down (though I guess they're not really interested in shifting volumes of these cars).

Yes, CTS is the first thing I though of when I saw that picture. The second thing> If nissan is owned by renault, doesn't that make it a french company not a Japanese company? As far as I'm concerned it does! I could care less what nissan does.

I'm not calling the Skyline a bad car by any stretch of the imagination, but like several other cars, it's extremely overrated. I guarantee if that car was called something other than Skyline, it wouldn't be as big of a deal.

IMHO if they're going to make that tame-looking coupe (a kitted G35? Come on...) as the Skyline with such a massive curb weight and no horsepower/torque advantage (especially torque) over a naturally aspirated Z06, it's not going to be a stand-out. It'll be slower in a straight line, and it'll be slower around the corners (that's what 700lbs tends to do, AWD or no AWD, the Z06 is probably one of the best-handling production vehicles), and it certainly won't beat the Corvette in looks.

So while I wouldn't mind owning that new Skyline, I'm not jumping up and down like a schoolgirl over what appears to be an inferior car...

As was alluded to already, I'm wagering this is not the actual final design, but a bit of styling camouflage. Many need to unbunch their panties.
