Are the Silverado SS's a sales failure?
Is that after or before rebates?
To be honest with you, that isn't a bad deal.
I don't see too many of them running around, so i doubt sales are that hot. But, i don't know if i can really call them sales failures without sales #'s.

MSRP is around 41k-42K
So 31k regardless if its after rebates is a pretty good deal...lowest i've sold one for was 40k!
Cool trucks....but not BADASS like they should be.
which is very unfortunate of course

I personally love the SS....a 0-60 in 6.5 seconds truck?! Fawk yea. If I ever have the need for a new truck in the next few years, the SS is at the top of my list.
(ESPECIALLY if their going for 31K!)
I was behind a red SS yesterday... first one I've seen on the road... it looked pretty nice, but it doesn't stand out a whole lot from other Silverado's from the back end...
Also, I guess I assumed there would be dual exhaust or at least dual outlets... just look slike standard Silverado exhaust to me... one pipe exiting on the passenger side of the truck.

People are so quick to criticize the Silv. SS. I think it's a great idea and good execution (granted would be better with more horse). But focusing on SALES is the wrong tack. PROFITS are what matter. If these things sell at a profit, they are a winner for GM.
Even with a little HP shortage, they manage well at moving out (and don't forget the AWD). I ran with one to 60 once, he had a catback and I was in my 02 TA (stock, 2.73's, A4, crummy driver) and he almost stayed with me.

Yes that's after dealer and GM rebate incentives. It still is a great deal though. However I'd rather have rwd in the std cab.
Anyway, I just bought another 67 Camaro, so it'll be awhile before I buy another vehicle.

I have no complaint with the Silverado SS in & of itself. It is a good looking rig, and for a nearly 3 ton vehicle, that thing is quick!
BUT, if SS is supposed to be the top performing version of each model line, why did Chevy pick the heaviest, least performance minded combination (buy a stripper 2500, and you'll outrun it) they possibly could?
Even worse than that, the MSRP of those things are in a catagory somewhere between "You gotta be f***ing kidding me" & "Cardiac Arrest"

Sounds like another case of selling the sizzle instead of the steak, but at the same price as the steak.
I wish GM would get it with their performace cars/trucks. It seems like they take the loaded version, add some minor upgrades, then charge a huge premium. At least with Ford, you get special editions that are at a premium - from the BASE MODEL. Take my car for example. Everyone said that a Bullitt was't worth the almost $4000 premium - but wait a minute - that premium was over a BASE GT so the whole car stickered for ~27K - not much more than a loaded GT. The Mach1's are the same way. For the $1-2K premium you are actually paying - the cars represent REAL VALUE. Especially since there are real performance improvements to the powertrain. But it's not just Ford. Look what PVO gives you in a NEON SRT4! Hey, GM - take note: I can add ground effects, hoods and wheels with out voiding my warranty for less money than you charge for an SS upgrade.
I have yet to see an SS package that represents a real value. And that's why they don't sell.
