Re: should we fear for the camaro?

I am hoping that the new Camaro is engineered from the ground up to be be safe and stable, regardless of whether the vehicle is a hardtop, T-Tops or convertible, and I stromgly believe the Camaro needs to have all 3 of those options. The new Mustang convertible is ( supposedly ) just as stable as a hardtop, thanks to convertibles being thought of during the design process. Other than that, I do believe GM has the potential to make the new Camaro not just a superb car, but a dream machine reminescent of the 1st Gen Camaro's. I know many people who still, after almost 40 years, LUST after the look of the 1st Gen Camaro's. After all this time in developement, I hope that between the anticipation of waiting and the eventual return of the 5th Gen Camaro, that the same feeling of Lust and " gotta have it " will be present when I see the 5th gen in person for the first time. Would I still buy it if those feelings weren't stirred up in me? Probably. Do I fear for the 5th Gen Camaro? Not as much as I did a year ago. GM has shown that they could come up with some very nice designs. After the GTO fiasco, I am very sure they understand that " bland and un-inspiring " are not complimentary words they want to hear when they unveil an all new Camaro.

Every one who has seen what is likely to be Camaro's replacement say it looks modern and very good, so that's what I'm going to go with.

It's kind of wierd... all the "info" says no, but then most of the drawing based on what we know are done, they look awful retro to me... so, I don't knwo what to think on that topic.

Dear God, I hope not.

Of all the cars in chevy's line up, They never seemed to miss a beat with either the Corvette's or Camaro's styling/design (subjective, I know), so with this strong history in mind and based on thse here with alot of know in the matter, I'm still keeping the faith of a modern, forward thinking Camaro.

Personally, i would love to see a fairly retro looking Camaro. However, I realize that I am in a minority of enthusiasts. Therefore, a rather modern looking Camaro, with a few retro cues thrown in for good measure would be nice.

I think we will see heritage cues and that is where people are gunna be love it or hate it on.
What cues do you use? Which car? Do you base it off the most popular year, or base it off the most desired? Will regular people like it while enthuiasts trip over themselves to get one?
This is a BIG reason why I think that GM needs to really work on making a new design and use heritage only in small doses so that will not say retro, but will say Camaro.

Impala, Monte, and Cobalt are all mainstream cars.

C6, Sky, Solstice, and Woodward GTO are more Camaro type specialty cars and are all homeruns. I have faith the Camaro will be great.

Thats where the designers talent and knowledge of the car come in . A particular year or model shouldnt have to be benchmarked . A good designer should beable to do a clean sheet redesign , and the cues should just naturally be expressed or in other words ....dont design the whole car around random cues from the past . The C6 vette pulls this off almost perfectly . If you really follow all the lines of the car in person , not in a picture , you can see many years of the corvette almost everywhere . And it doesnt look the lest bit retro

I used to be extremely anti retro but... right now i could go either way. retro or modern. just so long as they pull it off. It also has to have an awesome interior

I think they'll get it right, but I have to admit there are doubts.
