I think Impala should be RWD and V8 powered. Motor Trend just reported in the Oct. issue that Impala sales are still increasing, and is closing in on the Ford Taurus. I would like to see the Caprice return as a RWD V8 sedan, in a tighter more sports sedan pkg. like Holdens Caprice. Holden has just freshened their Caprice model for '04 and it looks very good. Thats what I'd like to see over here, but its be almost 8 years since the B-Bodies left us, I'd thought GM would have done something by now. 8-years........ I hope were not going to go through the same thing with Camaro
As far as police cars go, the Crown Vic PI still has the bulk of the police market because its RWD and V8 even though its a piece of crap. Impala 9C1s are selling well but Chevy is limited to how many they can produce. I don't know how well Dodge is doing with the Intrepid but in 03 with its 242hp V6 it was the fastest police car tested.
With the current Impala sales so strong it will probably slow down the cars evolution, with GM if its selling good don't do anything attitude or if it anit broke don't fix it. Which is sad because IMO the car is far behind its competiors in power and styling and I don't understand why it is selling better?
