Should the new T-bird be redesigned as a Lincoln?

Would it be more advantagous for Ford to redesign the current T-bird as a Lincoln when the T-Bird gets axed in a few years.

Bring out a new Lincoln convertible 2-seater in a fresh and modern design (No retro).

I don't think that will help Lincoln out. I think they should just concentrate on getting their vehicles in more hip-hop videos.

Ford would need to add an retractable hardtop to the 2 seater to help it compete against more expensive models from caddy, lexus, mercedes and etc.

I agree, I think they would need to price it a lot cheaper than those others too. maybe $50K with a 300HP DOHC V8

I think first they would have to determine who they want to compete against and go from there. If they are going to go after the Mercedes SL or the Caddy XLR, they will have to really develop the chassis to a new level. If they are going to go for the same price bracket, they need to make it modern and fresh. Also they can't be the same as the old car where it does nothing well and a few things mediocre. Retro looks can only get you so far.....................

I think a sub $50,000 300HP+ RWD convertible with a retractable hardtop is just what the doctor needs to order for Lincoln.

Lincoln needs to add a convertible to their lineup to compete against caddy, lexus and mercedes.

Actually, if done right... (new name and all) I think this idea has a lot of merit.

The idea of the current Thunderbird would have been best carried out by Lincoln.

What cars are the Thunderbird competing with? Cadillac's XLR. Lexus' SC430. Mercedes SL-class. Even BMW's 3 series convertible. A Thunderbird-like 2 passenger convertible would have done a more credible job at competing IMHO.

Though I like the Thunderbird's styling (except for that model car looking grill ), I still think Ford erred in not replacing the MN12 with an Lincoln LS derived 5 passenger coupe.
