Honestly? I would love to see the Beretta name make a comeback. I liked Berettas "back in the day," especially Quad 4 H.O. GTZs...

If I remember correctly, GM had to pay for a fee for every Beretta built (not unlike "Trans Am")... I thought that was agreed upon when they first started using the Beretta name though.

Funny you should bring that up.
I was seriously irked when Chevrolet named the "Malibu" model... er, uh Malibu. "Malibu" was originally a trim line on the Chevelle in the 60's. My first car was a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. (May have also been on the Novas and Full-sized Chevys, but my memory isn't what it used to be.)

Trim lines for full size Chevrolet in 1967 were Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala low to high.

I bet the guns are worth way more than the car now!

Actually it was a one-time settlement. Beretta and GM agreed that each would pay its own attorney's fees, and Chevy would donate $500,000.00 dollars to the American Cancer Society, and CHEVROLET could use BERETTA for its sports cars. Plus the president of Beretta got a Beretta car and the president of Chevy got matching pearl handled Beretta pistols.

Thanks for the clarification!

I don't remember where I saw a "supposed" computer rendering of it, but I was left unimpressed. It was upright, squared off, and not so impressive...it was not here.
Also, GMHTP said in one of their sidebars that "supposedly" the replacement for the Cavvy was gonna be more upright, like an Opel derivative. Hey, I could be wrong...I hope I am!

Given that the trend for the last 5-6 years has been for every new car to be taller than the one it replaces, I think it's a safe bet to assume the Cobalt will also be more upright. Packaging efficiency wins out over styling nowadays, but if it helps keep one more SUV or minivan off the road, I won't complain
