Should Cadillac make a real luxury car?

Cadillac needs to go big, or go home. Nothing less.

This is nearly identical to asking whether or not Maybach/Bentley/Rolls Royce should have an entry-level, $40,000 "luxury" vehicle. My answer to that is also a huge no.
Re: Should Cadillac make a real luxury car?
Believe it or not there are plenty of American millionaires and billionaires who would love to park their million dollar Caddy across three spaces next to a partner from overseas Bentley. Believe me.
Not only that why does Cadillac not have brand identity enough to do it??????
I'll bet you half the people on this board didn't know what a Maybach was before it was being touted all over the press about how Benz brough the name back. ****, half the people who will laud over the things probably still don't know its pretty much the nicest S class you can buy.
Not that I don't know anything with a GM part in it has to deal with all of the collective stigma, but I think in low production numbers with a great launch and presence it would be a great halo for GM. What I think would be a more viable solution would be to ressurect another ultra high luxury marquee, like Duesenberg, or Austin-Healey, make that at $300k range and then make a Caddy at about the 150k range, which could be ratcheted up to that range if a buyer called for it.
Then you can kill a lot of that stigma problem and get a halo effect.

Re: Should Cadillac make a real luxury car?
I think Cadillac could definetly pull something off in the 100k range to compete with the likes of the S8, AMG S55, S600, BMW 760i. They definetly need a car above the current STS, a car to compete with the top drawer, mainstream luxury offerings.
Should Cadillac compete with the likes of Maybach, RR, or Bently? Its not the status of the Cadillac name that's a problem. Its the exclusivity. Everybody has a Cadillac, a very select few own a RR or Bently.

I think GM could easily sell the sixteen with a 90,000-120,000 price point.
hell if i had 100,000 to blow on a car, i would wait in line for one

Try for 2 Million... It was deemed, If it went to production, which they said they wouldn't, "the most expensive production car"

I think an $80,000-$110,000 Cadillac sedan would kick ***. S/c 4.4 standard, optional V12.
Caddy needs something to go up against the A8 and 7 series. THe STS-L (sold in China) should also be sold in the USA
