Shelby GT500 KR in New York

Very cool spot on the car................. otherwise, very little is known.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdI_BO2bcBY

This spot evokes all of the right emotions, and really helps to explain (to those who don't know), what and who Shelby is.

Anyway, discuss away.

Even the most diehard GM guy can appreciate Shelby's cars. Makes me proud to be a fellow Texan.

Well, I think we might be able to surmise that the car will have no back seat............. as he metioned that when talking about the KR. Thus, I think they are trying to make it a bit lighter.

You know as well as I do that it is nowhere near 5000lbs.

It needs to be more than a bit lighter.

Well, considering that the standard Mustang GT weighs about 3550-3600lbs................ what would you consider acceptable for the Shelby GT500 KR???

Unfortunately, the penalty for stronger components that can hold up to.............. and compliment 500-600hp is usually weight.

I know we would all love for Ford to make the GT500 the same weight as a Z06.............. but I think we are all realistic enough to realize that this will NEVER happen.

And when the car is already a porker, it takes that much more strength - and weight - to keep things from blowing up. It's a vicious and messy cycle.

Ford's engineers could use some training from Weight Watchers. At least the new Focus lost a few pounds in its makeover - now, let's seem 'em take a few hundred pounds out of the 'stang.

Yeah the car is heavy (a mustang heavier than a GTO is wierd) but I would still drive one. It has brutal power and brutal power potential. I think they look pretty good too.

Looks like a pretty sweet car. Given what most people will use it for, the bragging rights of 540 HP is all you need.

To be honest, it is getting a little scary how much HP they are putting into some of these cars nowadays. Young kid + that much HP and weight = disaster.
