]"If the U.S. market booms, if gas prices go down, if sales of large SUVs come back, our return to profitability will be quicker. If the U.S. enters a downturn or gas prices go much higher and there are other outside factors that we have to react to, it's going to be a tougher task," Wagoner said.[/I]
If sales of big SUV's come back?!?!?!?! OMG.
If frogs had wings... they wouldn't bump their @ss.
If I had 5 good numbers...
If... If... If...
I don't know whether to scream about wanting big SUV's to sell better, or NOT wanting to commit to expediting newer products...

What's a 'brickbat'?
It's been along time since something from GM (besides the Corvette) really strained my neck (there have been some head turners for sure, but nothing that really made me go 'wow'), and I can't recall the last model to start a design or styling revolution or trend.

General Motors has not hit a home run with any of their vehicles since the 1997 Corvette...and even that was a car that mere mortals could not afford. Sure they've had some success stories (Impala, new Cobalt, the GMT-800's were fine trucks) but they have done nothing like the LX/Mustang, you know, the cars that set the automotive world ablaze. Some hope comes from the Kappa cars to get the ball rolling in that area, but they will be low volume roadsters and they keep getting pushed back.

Nice little utility vehicle, 5 years late to the "PT party", "been-there-done-that" styling.--GMT 900's should be the best in the business. GM is putting all their profitibility eggs in this basket, they BETTER be!!!
What else is there that we can plainly see is coming from GM? If we can't obviously see it now, it must be a few years off. I'm afraid the "gotta have" product that is supposed to be coming may be too late.

Yeah, Equinox is nice. I've even heard rumors somewhere of starting the redesign of the Equinox??? If this is true are we actually seeing good model change timetables?
Re: Shareholders want good design. Lutz gives Mustang, Charger, 300C recognition.
Formula, while I do agree that the Equinox is a good product, I don't really think that it is a "gotta have" product.
It is one of the better looking compact Utes (remembering that looks are subjective). It offers a good price for what you get. However, short of a couple of unique features, it really doesn't offer anything more than what a handful of other compact Utes offer.
It is, in my opinion, one of Chevrolets better products.

The Vette is close to a "gotta have", but in my opinion, if a Vette ever needed hidden headlights, it's the C6.
There are no "gotta haves" in the high volume segments.

The equinox is nice till you actually go and sit in it ( I did this morning).... man does it ever look like a rental. WOW is all I can say. And whats up with that back seat that you can move forward so that it is totally unusable or slide back to about where it should be?
I mean I tried moving the back seat while standing outside but coudnt until I was sitting on it. Useless unless someone could explain it to me?
It was very easy to get in and out of the back seats though.
All and all the interior is way to plasticy... and why would I buy one of those when you can get a vue for the same price but with the more powerfull\refined\ honda powertrain?
The seat texture is horrible to!
I did like the stearing wheel though.
