Re: Seriously considering a new Mustang, until....

A V6 FWD marginal quality, early to mid 90s, 2 door Lumina over a supercharged, RWD, BMW beating (at the time) handling, manual transmission, over engineered, Mustang-like accelerating, 145 mph, great looking & still solid 10-15 years later Thunderbird?
As a matter of fact, I did like the Luminas, especially the DOHC Z34's like this one:

These cars had a lot of punch (used to drive a friend's now and then). And IMHO they looked better and more distinctive than the TBirds of those days.

the only thing i hate about drive-by-wire is the inherent lack of feel it gives the driver. i like my old car over new cars partly because i can FEEL everything that goes on in the car. brakes, throttle, steering, suspension, everything. i like the idea behind drive-by-wire but not the feel sacrifice it makes.

i dunno if it matters but my recent copy of Popular Hot Rodding has a couple write ups about the Mustang Gt. they said they couldnt powershift it either but they claimed it was because of a floppy shift linkage. havent read the entire article but didnt see any mention of the computer takin over...

GuionM, I will go back to the Corral and Stangnet to find you some links. Many over at those two sites are talking about the massive smokey burnouts they are doing.

There is also MustangSource.

Anyway "I'll be back." Said with that "Oh so correct" accent. )

They dont trap that high .
I read out of car and driver that speculation of low trap speeds was because the gearing in the car's 5 speed tranny .It certainly has enough power to run 102's in it but they are gonna average LT1 like traps . After 2nd it spaces out fairly far to keep gas milage at bay . Kinda makes you wonder why didnt they Just put in a 6 speed .
