2010 SRX is crushing the old model in sales. I expect this trend to continue.

Nice to see Equinox sales up almost 100%, Although 'nox sales are no where near Ford Escape. I know it is selling good because I stopped by the 2 largest Chevy dealers in my area the past few days and neither of them have a Equinox. if only they could make them fast enough.

Well I tried to help GM out, I guess it didn't help that much. I was basically the only customer at the dealership when I bought my car.

Anyone know why Mustang sales dipped so much? It was closer to Camaro than that.

Camaro also made it on the top 20 on the WSJ.

With a 315 horsepower V6 and a 400 horsepower V8 of the iconic "5.0" displacement 6 months away I think that most Mustang enthusiasts are waiting. I expect Mustang sales to be tepid for the rest of the year and probably take of significantly once the 2011 hits.

So can we officially call this thing a flop yet? I'd love to find out the break down of coupe to sedan.

I wonder how many people actually know that? 3,000 more Camaros were sold & the Mustang was off by nearly 1,400 compared to August...I highly doubt the new engines are influencing that many buyers...

To take it a step further
Aug 09.....Aug 08
6,289.......8,197 down 23.3%

Sept 09....Sept 08
4,917.........4,910 up 0.1%

Camaro is definitely taking a bite out of Mustang sales...think how bad it would be without the new body!

I would think so....Charlie said Hyundai is claiming otherwise..

Sept 08 they sold 1,029 Genesis (I don't think the Coupe was out yet so this would be all sedan....)
Sept 08 they sold 677 Tiburons

Total those together you get 1,706 sold Sept 08

Sept 09 they sold 1,665 combined....thats off 41 cars....but I would say the coupes have a higher avg selling price than the Tiburon (leads to higher profit)...not to mention the sharing of parts with the sedan. While it's not the success we would come to expect being GM fans I can see Hyundai calling it one...

WOW...didn't notice how big of an increase there was! 2,866 compared to 848 last year.

I wonder how much the name changes have hurt GM?
Ex.
Trailblazer in 08 sold 8,773
Traverse in 09 sold 6,863
difference (1,910)

Envoy 08 sold 3,394
Terrain 09 sold 1,334
difference (2,260)

Granted the Terrain has just come out....it will be interesting to watch.

The change from Trailblazer to Traverse seems to have had an effect. Is there a difference in size between these 2? Or was it basically a name change when the new vehicle came out?

The Traverse is closer in size and specs to the old LWB GMT360s than the SWB 360s. IIRC the LWB was discontinued a few years ago and wouldn't be counted in 08 sales. Also the GMC Arcadia is the platform mate to the Chevy Traverse. The Terrain is a reskinned Equinox.

The Lambdas are actually closer in size to the full-size SUVs like the Tahoe. I thought they were intended to take over soccer mom duty from the minivans after they were euthanized. Of course they're a lot more expensive than minivans. I guess they're trying to cover both segments, but in typical GM fashion they replace two vehicles with one that sells a whole lot fewer.

Mustang sales haven't dipped compared to 2008. They rose slightly (0.1%).

2009
Mustang 4,917 +0.1

2008
Mustang 4,910

And although GM's sales look dreadful when you look at the %s, the total figures for GM and Ford look like this...

Why is GM still counting sales of "old GM" brands?

Good point, and where does the money go from a sale?

To be fair (and to defend my 'old' SRX, ) ... I think just about ANY all-new model is going to outsell the older model it replaces for a while. Or it least it BETTER, or you have some major problems.
