I dunno about any of you, but I'm gonna take a serious look at it if it looks like the picture and I can get it with a 6 speed and AWD

To me that looks like a heavily copied version of a current-gen Mercedes coupe with some slight styling hints taken from Lexus' new LF-X design theme.

I like it, but doesn't really strike me as original.

It's the best iteration of their current styling theme imo. I wouldn't trust the quality of the car though.

I am betting its going to be rather heavy. With only 247hp, it dows not turn me on.

I think it looks good, But I agree on the VW reliability issue as well.

I didn't think there was a market for affordable 2+2 performance coupes?

Re: Scirocco returns in 2008.

I like it. Wow...this sucks. I can now say I like a VW and an Eclipse more than anything in Chevy's stable that's comparably priced (projected for the Scirocco, of course). The only Chevy I'd buy today is an Impala SS or a MC SS. With the Impala somewhat bland and the MC not terribly new looking, I don't know if I'd buy either one...and both are more expensive than an Eclipse, or this car likely.

This really sucks

Its not too bad, I like the design. But overall weight of the car and cost come into play. It doesn't look like its going to be a nimble, light ride.

Re: Scirocco returns in 2008.

fwd? Not interested. awd w/ front-drive architecture? Still not interested. Even if it WASN'T going to end up being a 3400 lb. porker.

VW have truly lost their identity. What happened to small, cheap, LIGHTWEIGHT, fun cars? I'd much sooner build my own 1.8T Rabbit and spank the bejeezus outta this Scirocco, R32's, and Audi TT's

If I were really a fan of fwd Vdubs, that is...

Re: Scirocco returns in 2008.

The only redeeming factor to my '84 'Rocco was that it weighed around 2k. It wasn't fast, but it was a damn fun car to drive the **** out of.

3400lbs? Sounds more like a GT car.

BTW, where does it say it'll weigh 3400lbs?

Re: Scirocco returns in 2008.

Described to AutoWeek as the spiritual successor to the once highly regarded Scirocco, the coupe will be built on a modified Jetta chassis. Wolfsburg insiders say the new car may be marketed under the name Rivo.
"Rivo"? They could at least pick a better name for it.

3400 lbs is not heavy by todays standards.

My Corrado G60 (Scirocco replacement) weighed more. I think like 2,800lbs. But it was a very fun car. The blown 1.8 had adequate power, (the later, VR6 version was awesome), it handled and braked fantastically, it's Recaro seats were the best seats I've ever had...and it was unbelievably stable at VERY high speeds.

A very cool car.
