Re: Say goodbye to the VW Golf...

Now that VW has the person who ran MINIUSA from 2002-2005 and VW also has MINIUSA's old advertising firm I think they see more clever advertisements targeting women with the "Rabbit". I assume the Beattle might only have a few years left in production and they need something they can market to the ladies.

Golf= Guy sport
Rabbit= a cute little furry animal that makes girls want to cuddle

LOL It's ok. I do call it my little 'queermobile'. Feel free to wonder about me, it doesn't offend me.

I have seen plenty of guys in Miatas. I have only ever seen one guyever in a Cabrio, and in spring and summer I see those cars all of the time. It may be a stereotype, but at least around here it is one that seems to be rooted in some degree of truth.

And exactly how do we know that?

BTW: I think the name change is a huge mistake... especially since those "unpimp mien auto" commercials are striking a serious cord with the public, especially men.

Yes, but the real question is, Is the inverse true?

Are all men who drive Cabrio or Miata gay?

Re: Say goodbye to the VW Golf...

They say the name Rabbit has a huge following, pretending that the name Golf doesnt. When I think of Rabbit, I picture an old shoddy looking VW convertable. Not exactly a great image.

They must really pass the vodka around at VW/Audi exec meetings these days I guess

If it wasn't a chicks car before, it is now.

Rabbit sounds very feminine

Re: Say goodbye to the VW Golf...

my dad used to have a Rabbit back in the day.. like 10 years ago it was 10 years old at the time..

I dont know why.. but i liked that car, keep in mind i was 11.. i kinda like that they are going back to the Rabbit name.. i guess i have one of those "emotional connections" to the name

not that i'd ever consider owning one heh

Re: Say goodbye to the VW Golf...

Back to seriousness, I think this is a big mistake. Golf probably has more of a following and better recognition among buyers that would actually purchase a new one from VW.

If GM can go back 35 years to steal a design for a car, let's cut VW some slack for going back 25 years to steal a name
