Saw my first Saturn Ion on the street today. 2 things really stand out about the car. 1st, it's pretty overstyled when you see it with other cars on the street. It's not that easy to miss.

2nd, is it has a very strange dash. The guages and everything are in the center of the dash, not in front of the steering wheel. No one's mentioned it yet in the previews, so it struct me as a surprise.

Also, last week, someone was driving around the new full sized Chevy van. The body is the same, but the grille is a spitting image of the Silverado, and the plastic louvers over the rear taillights are now flush plastic, even with the body. What was odd in this case was how whoever it was driving tried to keep it lowkeyed. It had a magnetic business sticker on the passenger door & not the driver's (and it didn't have a phone number for this "business"), it had Michagan manufacturer's plates, but a license plate bracket that advertized a local dealer, and both the male driver & female rider looked completely lost.....as I was walking to Horton plaza, they passed me 3 times!

I was thinking the same thing.... if I had the center dash idea before Echo came out, I certainly would have tossed it after it came out...

Ya, ya, ya, I know it's a Toyota, but it's just silly looking.

 

I'm not a fan of the centre dash. My buddy's Grandma has an Echo. She's a sweet old lady, but I'm finding it harder and harder to respect her.

I've not seen an Ion that I know of, but I'm not really looking. I've seen alot of the new vans and I don't like them. If you go to www.chevrolet.com and look at the new vans, they all look photoshopped. That's weird to me, because there on the street now.
