Saw a GM EV1 on the road today...?
Re: Saw a GM EV1 on the road today...?
The EV1 is no longer in production or on lease, but more than one hundred will remain in service through 2005. Also, as the last consumer lease agreements expired, GM has donated some EV1s to select schools and museums with the objective of encouraging continued research and development of advanced technology transportation systems, strengthening GM’s relationships within the community, and providing a legacy for the historic EV1. Schools receiving donated EV1s are expected to use the vehicles as part of their engineering or design curricula in fields such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerodynamics, materials sciences, service engineering, and automotive design.
Another program has placed more than 100 EV1s that have come off lease in California in the hands of GM employees and some state and local government agencies in Massachusetts and New York. The drivers are providing data to GM on vehicle performance in those colder climates, data GM will is using in developing its hybrid and fuel cell technologies, which hold much greater promise of mass-market appeal.

Re: Saw a GM EV1 on the road today...?
Hmm.... 1000 mile range might be pushing it, but 400-500 mile range could be a solid goal to shoot for. With the 400+ miles a week I drive, I could use an EV1 that could go at least 300 miles on one charge.
