Offering a better warranty seams like a good marketing alternative to the rebate game

We bought a '02 L300 - wonderful car.
But, the resale values are for crap .
And, even though we got 0% for 60 months, I felt like I was taken for some extra G's
when they offered 3K in rebates several months later and/or the 0% ...
Which way we would have gone then would have obviously depended on what rate we could get thru convential financing, but still - Saturn is supposed to be a no-haggle pricing structure.
Now -
I'd try to haggle 'em.
That's 1/2 the fun anyway.

As was just recently discussed it's about time ONE GM division stepped forward and offered a modern-day warranty. Now if only we could get that on every new GM car and truck.....

Back when the life expectancy of a cars was 60,000 or 100,000 a 36,000 warranty was ok, but today all cars last 150,000+. 3 year isn't the problem to me, its the milage. 3yr./50,000 or 4yr/60,000 should be a GM standard.

You'd be amazed how many Aleros I'd sell over Grand Ams almost solely on the warranty! From late 2000 forward all Olds' had 5/60...or you could get a $750-1,000 credit to reduce it to 3/36, depending on the model...hardly anyone ever did it.Warranties sell cars...I applaud Saturn. BTW, the L Series IS a great car for the money. I don't know why they never caught on. My girlfriend's stepfather has a very nice white '03 L300...he loves his too. I always thought when they redesigned the nose it was an attractive car...

On the other hand, a basic 3-year warranty is an incentive for current owners to trade up to something new so they can stay under the manufacturer's protection.

It didn't stand out very well, in my opinion, and neither did it have mass appeal.

Saw this the other day and I agree with everyone. Why GM is only still offering 3 year/36,000 warranties is beyond me. Doesnt seem like it speaks well for your company when you are only promising the customer you'll pay for less than a quarter of the car's life in unexpected maintenance.
Good for Saturn, now its time for the rest to follow suit, I would love to see a 60-70,000 mile warranty on my 5th gen
