Re: Saturn dealers charging more than MSRP on Sky
Local GM dealer got a Solstice and put a $32K sticker on it, it was on the lot less than a week. What will a Sky go for at this highway-robberey dealer $35K?
Re: Saturn dealers charging more than MSRP on Sky
Who in their right mind walks into a dealership the first week/month to buy an in-demand car like this and expects it to be at or below sticker price?
It's not Saturn and Pontiac dealers that do this guys, this is every dealer with a hyped product. If Saturn had ever had a car worthwhile, this would have already been happening. I don't see this steering anyone away from the brand. I didn't even think Saturn was still pushing the "no haggle" angle.
If I was that desperate to have the a hot car like this the moment it came out, I would have pre-ordered and negotiated a price months ago. And most likely, if you search enough you'll find someone who will sell it at a reasonable price.

Re: Saturn dealers charging more than MSRP on Sky
saturn owners / purchasers don't want to have to search for someone willing to sell no haggle at MSRP, they've never had to and they've assumed that they wouldn't ever have to -- thus why they're upset.
Re: Saturn dealers charging more than MSRP on Sky
At a Pontiac dealership not far from here (a real small town) they were only charging $500 over MSRP for their second Solstice...
I dont see why dealers can just do business like this....
I'd pay $500 more for this car but not 10k....

Re: Saturn dealers charging more than MSRP on Sky
Alot of the dealers are jacking up the price by putting accessories such as R2000 and roadblock on these cars. So they're selling the car at sticker and then some by putting all this stuff on them.
It's not only the sky, Recently,my father got a call from a guy who was a GM supplier who lived in another state asking him if he would sell him a Solstice at Supplier price. The guy was shocked after my dad told him yes because he called 10 other dealerships asking him he could buy one at his supplier price and they all said no.
I won't shed a tear when a dealership has a bunch in their dealer inventory with 300 days on it.

Re: Saturn dealers charging more than MSRP on Sky
Missed my "Saturn is dead" thread?
Saturn isn't Saturn anymore, it's USA Opel, and will be a "Gotta Have" division. As such, don't expect any of the old Saturn in much of anything beyond name and dealer network. Especially pricing.
Saturn is moving upmarket, and prices are going to follow. Sky is the begining (and probally will see the most extreme scalping). Saturn has quite a few highly styled vehicles coming out very soon.
Combine that with no competition between dealers (they are widely spaced, unlike Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler-Dodge) & you are going to see alot of this type of new "no-haggle, above MSRP" pricing.
Saturn as you know it is gone.
