I think we are really dead.. Not just dead for awhile but really gone. Talking with others they feel the camaro never changed enough every few years and this whole import thing killed us…. Also the cars were to darn much…. If it were resurrected I think we need:
A 3.8 that has a super stock as an option
A base 3.8 that has 3.42 gears stock
All ship with manual doors and windows unless requested
Starting V6 Price at 14K
Starting Z Price at 20K
Only 1/10 faster than the stang stock to keep the price close
Move to a 327 again and loose the 350 Or possible a 305 with *****…

Well I believe the 4th Gens were priced as well as one could hope for when you're looking for a V-8 muscle car. (24K base price). I agree the V-6 models could have had more performance options, something more than duals and 3.42's would have been nice. (Maybe a 40 horse supercharger, nothing that'd make it compete with the Z-28 of course). The problem is there is little hope for high school kids to buy new camaros, and it takes a few years for them to be able to afford them. Hondas and other small cars were much cheaper, so that's what they bought and tuned. Now, a few years after the fact, people around my age can start affording the V-8's as long as they log in a **** load of hours in at work.

How do you make a new base Camaro for $14K and have it not be crap?

How do you make a new Z/28 Camaro for $20K and have it not be crap?
Do we REALLY want a car of this caliber sitting at that price? I would much rather pay more to begin with and less in insurance because all the little 16 year old's are getting these cars for their birthday.

Until recently, I've felt that Camaro's power should always be normally aspirated.
After considering previous comments by RP and other that a smaller or lower powered V8 in a new Camaro would be penalized by insurance companies....I've come around to the thought of a S/C V6 as a powertrain upgrade for a base Camaro.
If we can't have a mid-level V8...I think a supercharged 3800, or it's successor would make a great choice.

There's no way in hell that a 5th gen Camaro should have a supercharged V6 over a NA V8. Leave the supercharged V6's for the Cobalt and other lesser vehicles.
Yes the base Camaro should have a V6, however it shouldn't have any factory performance enhancements, other than an RS styling package.
If you can't afford the insurance on a Z/28... then buy a Cobalt SS.
