Cars are getting too dangerous! Why doesn't some one come up with a floating bubble we could all ride around in. What's next? And we wonder why, the cars are getting so damn heavy.

Anyone see/remember the movie 'demolition man'. We need that foam on the inside AND outside.

Yeah what I could never figure out was, how would you not inhale/choke on it?

I can't stand when they do that! If you are going to ride on the road and want cars to treat you with respect at least follow the rules. I see so many of them cross at red lights and blow through stop signs. I just like riding as close to them as possible and hope they fall off or hit a curb.

When any public organization is successful in fixing a legitimate problem or issue, it never disbands. Like any other organization, it looks for things to keep it alive. I think that's what's happening to the safety folks now.

Highway deaths are down, we have safety glass, padded interiors (or at least break-away plastic), .08 is the now the law in all 50, airbags are mandatory, sealtbelt use is mandatory, cars today are actually safer in accidents than trucks (no, I'm not kidding), break-away outside rearview mirrors, and now........

We're protecting people who like to walk in front of cars.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just require all pedestrians to wear helmets?

Bicyclists and pedestrians simply need to avoid roads where ther eis not a sufficient shoulder etc. Yes, I ride a bicycle...and to ride anywhere that doesn't allow you to ride at least 3 feet off the road is just plain dangerous. Safety "features" are getting out of hand.

Maybe if some folks didnt recoil from taking responsibility for themselves like vampires from a cross, we wouldnt have these blithering government simps telling us what we can and cannot do...

The best pedestrian safety feature is to look both ways

I also agree with this, darwinism, like Doug said. However makeing them wear the helmets & sumo garb, could be pretty amussing, I must admit. There are actually certain towns here in Jersey, where the ppl once they see you driving something expensive, they'll walk out in front of you, just so they can sue you! I guess they figure if you have something nice you have $$$. Bums!
