Road and Track - Pontiac G8 Test Drive
Did anyone else notice that the weight of the R&T tester was much less even than Pontiac's quoted weight (3910 pounds). Interesting how much more the sport+moonroof+luxury models weigh. Those were listed at close to 4100.
The lesson is to buy the base model if you want to save weight. It also gives hope that a base V8 Camaro will come in on the lighter side of the guesses.

That color looks purple on the Pontiac website. But on the first page of the article(yes, I subsribe to R&T as well as MT and C&D)the huge pic looks nice
I really liked the blue in the brochure, but my dealer said that they ended up not building any. Apparently, the actual color turned out too purple or something. Anyway, somewhere in the brochure, there is a little asterisk that indicates "late availability", and ended up being "not available". I believe that the gminventory.com website confirmed this.
I've been looking at them and drove a red one yesterday. The hood scoops are functional and allow air in to the engine bay. I looked them over closely.
I would have bought the red one at the dealership but I just couldn't get the auto stick to feel right. I can't believe they do not offer the car with a manual. Otherwise I would have one in the driveway.
The salesman was 6'4" and fit in the back seat with plenty of room. The wife was pretty impressed with the interior space.

That's great to hear about the rear seat space... a factor for me right now.
Manual tranny is on the way... maybe someone can chime in with when it is supposed to show up?
