Road race diesel

Hot Rod has a story about a 6.6L Duramax that Gale Banks is building for an endurance road race pickup truck. The motor is reportedly pretty stock except for intake, computer and turbos.

The goal is 650 hp and 800 ft-lbs of torque. Right now he's at 575 hp and 1,020 ft-lbs. Tuning continues.

Can you imagine what a hot rod a Silverado half ton, regular cab would be with this motor!

I dare say Banks is to Diesel's as Lingenfelter was to the SBC.

I don't think the Allison will fit in the 800's 1/2 ton config. That may change for 900 though.

Yeah, thats why the HDs have that 2" body lift, to fit the allison. Not something you really want for a "hot rod" truck.

Here's a link: http://www.bankspower.com/im_undercardigest_Aug05.cfm

Gonna be a twin turbo setup.

Re: Road race diesel

They had a little segment on the setup on Trucks!

Man is this baby going to scoot! Now I know you're wondering, "Will I be able to get these parts for my diesel?" Well they'll be available but... you're going to have to pay for them. Quality like this does not come cheap, but if you're buying from Gale Banks, you know you're getting a good part.

Tracy probably said something like that. Imagine him saying that and you'll probably laugh.

I've been thinking about this alot lately, just because the bottom ends on diesels are naturally tough. What a predicimate...I got 1,000+ hp and need less.

I wish I had that problem.
