Revelations after the Western MA auto show...

1) A black Lucerne with black leather and optional 18" chrome wheels is a very attractive car that even my 22 year old girlfriend likes a lot.

2) The new DTS has an interior nearly as nice as the STS, and the most comfortable seats known to man...WOW. Love the analog clock, too...about time!

3) The new VW GTI also has phenomenal seats, a great interior, and looks great in red.

4) The Hyundai Azera is gorgeous, makes the Lacrosse look like a wet noodle, and continues Hyundai's tradition of having the most WRETCHED new car smell ever...all Hyundai's smell like crap to me on the inside when new.

5) The Impy SS garnered as much attention as the Charger R/T when I was there...

6) The inside of a Cobalt LTZ is amazing for a small car...

7) The inside of the new Dodge Caliber screams plastic, but its extremely stylish and well put together. Dodge is going to sell a ton of these, and will be great competition for an Outback. Great style, comfy seats, well laid out interior...I look forward to driving a 5 speed 2.4 R/T model. It should be a lot more gratifying than a Vibe (the SRT version is stupid, IMO)....oh yeah, did I mention I'm interviewing for a Sales Manager spot at a DC franchise? I'm a traitor, I know...(at least I won't be selling imports...I'd rather shoot myself).

Pontiacman has a better ring than Chryslerman, IMO...so we'll see how this goes But it would sure beat working at a bank. Being 25 and a sales manager would be incredible...I miss not hucking cars every day, I've come to realize. Yes, I am pathetic ....and no, I will NOT be buying a Challenger over a 5th gen. I want the job, but I also have priorities

New one or the old one?

BTW, good luck on the interview.

My thoughts on some your thoughts!

I really like Lucerne... quite a bit... but, I just can't seem to get myself over the "this brand is for blue-haired grannies" perception. And I REALLY want to like this car enough to get one. I just can't seem to get myself there... and it really has not a lot to do with the car itself.

I haven't seen one in person, but from the TV ads I've seen, it makes me think of a 1989 or so Toyota Camry... I thought it was just another bland Hyundai....... it took me a little off guard that you felt is was that good looking.... hmmmm....

That is good news, and honestly, a little bit surprising.

Good luck with whatever happens. It's gonna be hard not thinking of you as a Pontiac guy, though!!

Same one, actually. I sorta blew things a little out of proportion upon return from Detroit...wasn't quite as bad as I thought. We're still working things out, and we're no longer living together, but at the moment things are going well. To be honest, I don't have a clue what's going to happen...just taking it a day at a time right now.

Thanks for wishing me luck. Indeed, I wish it was a GM franchise for sure, but to get started, and get my feet wet, its ideal. The owner realizes the depth of my car knowledge and the skills I earned with my MBA, so it could be an ideal fit. I'll keep you guys posted...and yes, while my demo will be an SRT-4 or a Charger if I can help it, my garage will remain all GM I'd love to own my own dealership down the road, should this master plan in my head work out I'm really excited for the chance...bank work just isn't in me anymore, and I miss cars. One day a week isn't giving me the fix I need

Darth,

I think the Azera is attractive enough on the outside. What really gets me is the INSIDE...its beautiful...but like I said, it STINKS.

As for the Lucerne, I'm in the same boat. I like it a lot, but I still can't picture owning one. Ashleigh thinks it looks like an Acura, which in my mind it does mimic an older 3.2 TL a little bit. But I want something that mimics the new TL, or a 300. I can see myself in a 300...not a Lucerne. But as I told the Buick rep at the show, "Buick is getting close to making something I'd actually want."

Other than a Grand National, a '95-'99 Riviera or a Reatta (yes, I said Reatta...stop laughing!), there hasn't been a Buick made since the early '70s I'd want to be caught dead in...
