Anyone else see Saturn's new ads with the Sky, Aura Hybrid and Outlook? The tagline is "Rethink American," which IMO is a great tagline for the Saturn renaissance...
The only issue I have is, how does that work down the road? Especially seeing as how the Astra is built in Belgium and is essentially an Opel??? I like the inspiration behind the meaning, but I wonder if using it with Saturn will bite them in the ***...
Thoughts?

Haven't seen it, although I have been spending alot of time this past week at the Saturn dealerships looking at Ions. I think I am going to hold off though considering there isn't much stock too choose from and the Astra is looking kind of promising.
I've seen it, I think it's a good slogan.
It isn't an emotional appeal like the slobbery "Our Country" ads. This is simply asking people to take another look at what American cars (like these Saturns) are all about. I think it's a perfect fit.
As far as biting them in the ***, the Astra will be the only car built overseas in their lineup so I don't think that'll hurt too much. Hopefully it does so well that they move production here before too long.

Consider the add Fords been running for Decades
"Have you driving a ford lately?"
to me its said
"were not as bad as last year, and next year well tell you the same thing"
It only works a hand full of times. After that it falls on deaf ears.

I don't think it is a good idea. They should push the fact that Saturn is quality not American. Everyone wants quality, a lot of people don't want American. Saturn needs to draw in the American car haters. That tag line will not do it.
I think that works. Employed correctly, Saturn's American roots can be another part of its quirky personality.
As an Aura owner, my mom has shocked people when she tells them the car parked next to their Lexus is a good 'ole American car.

I think it's a good ad.
Now, I just need to see it more than 3 times in the next 2 months.
I can not begin to count the Toyota Tundra ads that I see on TV, and I just got a 3-page brochure on it at the house last week (from my Superduty ownership file/registration no doubt). GM and Ford need to be at least as aggressive with their media saturation IMO. To continually see these Toy ads without direct response from American companies seems to denote "acceptance" in my eyes somehow.
Likewise, the Mustang commercial where they play the national anthem with engine revs while the billboard behind shows generations of families and their Mustangs... un-FRIGGIN'-believable ad!
I saw it 2 times on TV...
The cops and the GT... GREAT AD - never seen it on TV (just internet only).
The Corvette ads... the robot ad... you get the picture.
So... good ad - just show it more than 3 times.

It is probably true that many people don't know that Saturn is just another arm of General Motors.
Proud -- you forget Toyota's monsterous advertising budget. Making $13 Billion/year in profit allows you to do some great things within your marketing department.
I read an article the other day that stated Toyota is making some huge gains in Germany right now at the expense of homegrown VW. Guess how much more they spent than V-Dub on advertising in Germany?
Almost 5 times more.
