Related to the Dodge Magnum & law enforcement (you WON'T believe this one!!!)
On this link is a story about a Bank Robbery. Click on the video showing the robbers chased to their home (who ever said criminals were smart?).
Notice the car they were driving.
Notice how it pulls away at times from the pursuing police.

When you check out the wheels, you realize it's NOT even the Hemi!!
Who says these things won't make a good police car. This is like free advertising!

It's funny how the news commentator at the end says that the car driven (yet he fails to name it) is being marketed and sold as a high performance automobile.
Some great advertising for Chrysler indeed.
I noticed, though, how it was able to pull away from the chase car - but not for too long. If you watch carefully, you can see that the rate of growing distance between the two cars slows down. Either the Magnum driver stops full acceleration, or V8 Crown Vic starts to flex its muscle.
I did not look at it carefully enough to notice the wheels. If it was Hemi, for sure the distance would be ever growing.

To be bluntly honest, I think there are a lot of communities that don't want mega-powered cruiser on the road.
Leaves the potential for more pursuit accidents... most police are not allowed to do 'hot pursuit' except in a rare cases anyway.
One of my best friends is a cop... I asked him about the car, and he said it'd be cool to a degree, but said the following:
1) Price. If they are much more than the Crown Vics, they'll NEVER see them.
2) Most departments are brand loyal. If they have Ford's now, they'll have Ford's tomorrow. Easier for the mechanics, and the part stock.
3) He reitterated the lack of an enclosed, lockable, non-see-into trunk for equipment.
4) The whole thing I mentioned above about horsepower overkill, and the powers that be worrying about more 'hot pursuit' injuries and fatalities...

...just cuz the police didn't drive like tards on public roads to endanger innocent folks doesn't mean the police cruiser was slower
Being able to pull away from a loaded down Crown Vic is not a significant accomplishment anyhow...

Okkkkk.........
If you watch the video carefully, you can clearly see the cop accelerating to catch the Magnum, and the Magnum is pulling away. The whole point of this thread was that a V6 Magnum performs quite well, in fact as well or better than a V8 Crown Vic.
Ever seen a nice chase on TV? Cops do drive like "tards". Especially as they try to spin out the speeding suspect.

I am just saying that I doubt the cop is going to weave in and out of traffic and hit innocent vehicles like the Magnum did...
