Red Planet's Rant.....please read.

Good evening, fellow enthusiasts.

A few weeks ago, I posted a request...a "homework assignment" if you will.

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=232574

Let me first assure you that GM has never given up on performance. Yes, the Camaro and Firebird nameplates were, for the lack of a better term, put on "hiatus" after the 2002 model year. No one, I believe, was more torn up about this than I. To this day, I still have bad dreams about the last days of production.
No one wants to see a 5th Gen more than I.

I'd love to 'spill the beans' about many things that are being worked on....amazing new products......... If I did, GM would be forced to fire me.....and rightfully so.

Now...back to the homework assignment.

As of this afternoon, I received a total of 12 responses. To each of the 12 respondents, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To the rest of you: I notice that no one seems to have a problem expressing their opinions on this board. Most of you are not bashful. And most of you have the strength to sit at the keyboard and type away.

I have given you the perfect opportunity to be heard. Yet there is a "strange silence" if you will.....

(insert crickets chirping here........)

...it appears, based on the results thusfar, that the mail room will NOT have to make a 'special delivery' to me anytime soon....with hundreds of envelopes stuffed full of pictures and well written letters.

How 'bout taking some of that passion that you have.....that anger that you have....that sense of betrayal that you have....and convert it into a well-thought-out letter? How 'bout going out into your garage and taking pictures of all the "Camaroabilia" that you have hanging on the walls? How 'bout taking pictures of all the "Camaroabilia" that you have on the walls of your rec room? (don't have "Camaroabilia?...then take a picture of your family standing around your 'pride and joy' Camaro....and include a letter of what your Camaro means to you.

Go read Rob's letter on this site.....now THAT'S a letter.

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=250788

You want to be heard? GET MOVING!

Send 'em to:

Scott Settlemire
c/o General Motors Corporation
100 Renaissance Center
Detroit, MI 48265
Mail Code 482-A23-B21

I cannot respond to your letters, nor can I return them to you. (I do have a job that needs to get done.....)

I MAY live to regret this post....but I feel it's worth it.

How 'bout you?

Alright Scott, you got me. I agreed with what you said before, but I did nothing. However, I cant rightfully live with myself if I dont do something. Therefore, I will write a nice long and passionate letter, and try to send some of my pics to you. I wish I was older, I wish I had more money, cuz all I want is Camaro stuff. Im a freshman in college, and if it were up to me( not the parents), I would be spending all my money on making my Camaro not only perform well, but also look good. In essence, being PROUD of my car, being PROUD of a great car that GM produced, but most importantly, LOVING my car. I take great pride in driving it and taking care of it. I wouldnt trade that for anything. Thank you for doing so much to help all of us Camaro enthusiasts out, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will be seeing a letter from me within a week. Thank you once again.

Thanks, Matt!

You don't have to own a ton of 'Camaroabilia" to have passion for Camaro.....

Just write a note about what your Camaro means to you...how no other car can quite compare......write what you "feel"....tell us what your friends think of your Camaro (that is, if it is favorable! )

Tell us (if this is the case) how long you waited to own a Camaro...or about the first time you saw one.....

This is so easy guys and this will do so much for our cause!

There are no excuses. It took me one night last week to look around my room to find a picture. I found a pic of my Dad and me in front of my car at a “Laps for Charity” event a few years ago at Texas Motor Speedway. I went to Kinko’s made a professional copy of it. I came home typed up a simple one page letter and had it in the mail the next day. A few hours and a few bucks later and I made a difference.

No one here has any good excuse not to do this. We all have a few hours spare time and a few bucks! And I know damn well we all have the passion!

NOW GET TO IT!

Hey RP...I thought you were looking for strictly over the top stuff ...like Camaro tattooed to your forehead. That sort of thing.

I got the impression that the homework assignment was for over the top things. That's why I never sent anything in. I just have regular old posters on the wall, and some diecasts. I didn't think that I fell into the required category for sending things in.

I give you my word, that I will send in my letter on Monday. that gives me the weekend to put everything together.

Sorry about me reading your request wrong. I do apologize.

I'd love to help, but not sure what I can do, since I don't own a Camaro and don't have anything related to the one I used to own except for a couple of boring pictures of it sitting in my driveway...

Tomorrow my friend Tom (2K1SunsetSS) and I will be getting our cars together for some pictures. I'll be sure to get a few copies and send them along with a good letter.

Red I think that's why you haven't gotten too much of a response, from the way you made it sound you were talking about crazy stuff like jumping out of a plane with a Camaro cape on or something....

I've sent in 5 letters in the last few months... highly encourage everyone to do it... I've always received a very nice response (although vague) each time. Makes me feel like I'm doing something substantive to bring back our beloved cars. Let's not let Red down!

I got this impression as well. I have nothing over the top but years of polishing, sweating, modding, and arguing over the dinner table with my mustang buddies. I wished I could record all the times I've heard" I think you love the car more than you do me" and send it in.

I'm kinda in the same position as alot of people here. I don't own a Camaro (yet) and I haven't owned any as of yet. All my "Camaroabillia" is up north with my cousin and I won't get back to pick it up until later this summer.

I WILL HOWEVER be writing a letter to send along with tales of my dad's cousin 1969 Z/29 and the 1971 Z/28 it inspired my dad to buy (both were bought brand new). Hey, maybe I'll even have my dad do one on his own too!

Anyways I'll be working on that this week.

I have my letter typed up and hopefully the weather will hold up so I can take some photos today. The Camaros are going to need baths first.
