wait...price? The base 300C is $500 more then the GTO, yet the GTO is overpriced? AHHHHH I see how that works.

I agree that the GTO needs to be cheaper. But it's not the price keeping them off the roads, it's the looks. I know places that are selling them at sticker and there's even places selling them at below sticker. When they get different bumpers, hood, rims, tires, engine, outlets, whatever for 05, it'll do better. Watch. People will have a tough time complaining about it then and it will make people actually want it more.

Re: RED: Did GM say anything yet to the dealers about the GTO pricing?

Big Als Z thats what I mean price..or the over pricing of them...its giving the GTO a stigma of being a waste of money.."a specialty car" while the same 300C and Magnum that offer maybee the same competition are selling cus of price since they were not burdened with the 4-8K of "specialty vehicle" price gouging...

the people that wanted a GTO must of noticed this and said wait a min..4-8K over sticker..your out of your mind..and NOw it is too late since the new GTO for 05 will be diffrent these 04's will be sitting on dealer show rooms for a long time..Its really the dealers faults for OVERPRICING a good car. It would of sold pretty well if the price gouging didint start when prospective buyers went looking at GTO...

Even at sticker price, they are about $4000-$5000 "overpriced" in the market due to the lack of rebates that just about every other car on the market is offering.

GM needs to drop a $3000 rebate on '04 GTOs before the mainstream public gets word of the 400HP '05.

If GM is smart they will also leave the price of the '05 GTO at $33K so it can be a better and cheaper car than the Cobra with just as much hp/tq

That's just it; ARE THEY? I am a GM fan and hope to continue to be one, but seems like lately, they are just making one dumb move after another. Another row boat with one oar.

Should have just made a 5th gen Firebird and Camaro and forgotten about the GTO!! My local dealer had about 10-15 from what I could see. All listed at around $32K I think. They all look really nice and the interior build quality makes the inside of my TA look like crap. I remember people complaining that the TA was too flashy in the looks dept. Now the GTO is too dull. I guess Pontiac hasn't found the happy medium yet. Hopefully the '05 additions will help, guess we'll see.

350 HP is already more than most cars have. Do you really think 400 HP will make that much difference in sales? I just don't see it happening. Most buyers won't know the difference between the LS1 and LS2 technology, so that's not even really a factor in their decision making either. Now I know that us enthusiasts know the differences and are attracted to the car because of HP and engine among other things (and likewise unattracted to it for other reasons as well), but I'm speaking of the general public here which should be the ones interested in the car IMO.

The GTO and Cobra share some similarities and I suppose are in the same market, but for some reason I just don't see these two as competitors. At least not at this stage in the game. Maybe when the 05 GTO is out they'll be more comparative, but the next year Cobra will change all that.

If the Camaro is out in 2007 I see GTO sales taking a turn for the worst.

Re: RED: Did GM say anything yet to the dealers about the GTO pricing?

The biggest thing to me between the GTO, the 300, and the Magnum is that the 2 Chryslers slap you in the face w/ their styling...which match the personality of the cars. W/ the GTO, it's so understated, it kind of flies in the face of what a traditional muscle car was. I don't necessarily want a return to wings, blacked out hoods, and hood scoops just for the sake of heritage, but at the same time, the commercials have GTO's burning rubber and being assembled in this hard core industrial complex and so forth, but when you actually see the car, it's somewhat sedate.

Personally I like the GTO over the 4 door 300 and the station wagon. GTO is one of those cars that you REALLY need to see in person to appreciate the shape. For me it would be fine, but for Joe Public, maybe they want their attitude cars to have.....attitude? Who knows, give the GTO a little eye candy, and hang that magical $29,999 price tag on it, and see what happens.

My new lust is the PHR concept '07 though. I NEED that car!!!

GTO will be re-done at this point too, so the current GTO would never go up against a Camaro in Model Year sales...

The '05 GTO gets 400HP, hood scoops and quad exhust. Many said for the price the GTO wasn't fast enough. With Cobra power and more agressive looks, it should do a lot better that the LS1 04. (as long as the price doesn't go up.)

There will be no Cobra next year, SVT has already said the next Cobra will be 2007. Don't forget the current GTO is a 3 year run 2004-2006 The all new GTO will be out in 2007 also.

A more aggressive look will make the GTO sell, IMHO. The extra HP is just icing on the cake, though having a 4 as the first digit of the HP rating certainly should turn a few extra heads.

Re: RED: Did GM say anything yet to the dealers about the GTO pricing?

I cannot see why people are calling this car boring, bland, dull.....

THIS NEW GTO ROCKS! Its a Pontiac, therefore carries a Pontiac look. Buy one, wait until the aftermarket comes out with the new bumpers, hoods, etc and then make it your own taste.

Come on, instead of complaining, look at the car. Have you seen a car in this price range, with that NICE of an interior? *4* bucket seats?? The car is incredible! GM did us a favor by offering something with a healthy V8, auto or manual option, AND RWD and ALL WE CAN DO is complain about the subtle look???!?!?

Yes, the price is too high with dealer markups and so forth, but if they were just even slightly more affordable, there would be one in my driveway for sure!!

Its a sleak, powerful, mean car with an extremely well appointed interior and all we can do is complain? Come on, who/what has the problem?

Us - or the car?

Those changes should help (the looks department anyway), but I wonder with all the other cars out in 2005 and others on the horizon, just how well it will fare. One of those wait and see situations.

Yeah, I was speaking about the 2007 year model (coming out in Summer 2006), thus the next year after the 2005 year model GTO.
