A quote that sums up how I feel.
I was searching through the internet and found some cool quotes on the F-body. This quote is obviously a little old (in a few months), but it pretty much sums up how I feel about today's car going, but with the 5th gen being more, dare I say, Mustang-like...but of course faster
"In a few months, these F-Cars will be gone and they deserve to go. But they also deserve to be replaced. Hopefully with cars that expand on the fundamentally sound idea of simple cars with great drivetrains in good-looking bodies, but don't demand so many compromises in other areas. Creating viable successors to the Camaro and Firebird ought to be near the top of Bob Lutz's product agenda."
Here's another one just for fun:
"Z28/Trans Am is no BMW, but it's a better car than many people realize. You just have to appreciate it for what it is, a brutally fast pony car. "
I know I'm bored

Yes, you are LOL.
IMO they didn't deserve to go. Not a car with a 35 year history, and not a car that was better than its competitor performancewise in every way even though it recently had its issues. A car like the F-Body doesn't sell good?? So that means that you do some work and fix what needs to be. You don't just take a car like that away. But IMO, and in the opinion of many others, the closing of the plant and the contract had alot more to do with it than sales.

I agree with you 100%. I wasn't saying that the Camaro deserved to be killed, but that the car it is now needed some major updates in order to keep it alive... but General Motors had a different plan for the F-body. GM wanted out of Canada & when the contract expired that was their ticket out. GM didn't want dealers to stock or sell these cars because of that reason. GM didn't want to renew the contract, therefore forcing the unmarketed Camaro/Firebird to go on hiatus. Many people don't understand that GM didn't market the car for a reason. I'll say it again, GM wanted out!!! The reason there is no 2003 Camaro/Firebird isn't because GM hates us, it is because there is no suitable platform for 2003. When Sigma debuts or another suitable RWD platform we will see a 5th gen. Also, give or take a few years for CAW to "settle down." It all boiled down to either staying in Quebec or putting the F-body on hiatus. IMO in the long run for GM putting the F-body on hiatus was the right business decision.

Assuming that problems with the quebec plant were responsible for the death of the camaro, I would love to know why they decided to build f-bodies there in the first place, and what changed in a relatively short amount of time to change their minds? Quebec held a referendum on separation from Canada in 1996, and was defeated by about 1% of the vote, I wonder if this had anything to do with GM wanting out of Quebec?
Dang Canucks!
I don't think we can put all the blame on Canada! If GM wanted to build the car, they could have done it. They are the biggest auto manufacturer in the world, if they wanted to build a tank to sell to the public, they could. GM screwed up IMO!

That is kinda true and kinda not. Could they have had no hiatus at all and had a 5th Gen ready to go?? Sure. But there were morons in there running things that aren't anymore. By the time managment changed, deals were already made and contracts were already signed. Had things been different, well, they would have been different.
They have to work things out now and correct the things that are idiotic in GM. IMO, they have alot to do and should be doing better, but we just have to see.

In my opinion, it's a shame that a car with 35 years of history, and which was head and shoulders above their main competition (the stang) was put on the shelf due to a contract dispute... I just hope that GM clears this mess up ASAP (!!!!) and brings back one of the most popular cars in automotive history...the sooner, the better!!!
