OMG that car is gorgeous! It makes the decision about what to buy after college a lot harder. That is, assuming that this version will actually make the states someday!

I don't think its that bad. Its better than the look now with those huge circular "HI!!!" lights that make me think of a neon with dilated pupils.

eh.... its to bad looking. I think the oversized hood scoop and wing need to go. I do think the older wrx lookes better than this one.

I would have to say that looks terrible. It looks like such a ricer car. The other current car does not, it is still ugly, but not rice.

OK, here's a rundown - it will make to the North American market, albeit slightly later.

All Subarus get a facelift next year. It will not look like that. I have a picture in Road & Track, and it looks cleaner, scoop is not that big, and healdights are reminiscent of older Subarus (pre-current WRX). Headlights are more like 2000 Impreza. Wing won't look that ricey.

The best part? It will come with 2.0 flat-4 that produces 320 bhp at 6400 RPM.

What makes it rice? The wing? Thats all I can really see on that car that would make someone say that. I think it looks good, espically since it can actaully perform. The STi is the basis for the Subaru WRC rally car, where the wing is actually used. I'm indifferent on the light change. I grew to like the current model, but I really dont like/dislike the new lights either. I do really like the hood scoop though. Makes it look intimidating!

This above is the STi, the WRX is more subdued

That is the all-out STi version with Prodrive-style wing. This is what the regular WRX will look like. Leather and sunroof are also rumored to be making the option list over here.

Now, not to start the never-ending debate over what is "rice" and/or whether that is a derogatory term to even be used in this day and age, but I don't feel wings and scoops are inappropriate on cars that can back up that image. It's performance isn't that far off that actual rally car.

BTW, I think this car looks a lot more tasteful than the common high-rise spoiler and tape on hood scoops you see on so many Camaros. That is if you're referring the tastefulness of the car's appearance. If you just don't like Japanese cars, then ...your loss.

I still have to wonder if people like it because of the styling or simply because of the drivetrain....

Scoops and spoilers are fine, when they are done tasteful, but to me, that car looks like total rice. It is a complete cartoon of itself. It seems like a project car done by a few 16 year-old Civic drivers. Also, where are all these high-rise spoilers and tape-on scoops that you see on SO many Camaros? I see very few, and yes, those are crap.
