My friend is trying to decide if he should buy an 04 Cobra or get the new C6 Vette when it comes out. But if he gets the Vette he wants a Targa Top. Does anybody if they are gonna be offering the Vettes with the Targa Tops right away or if not when they will be? Thanks.

 

Yes they will be offered right away.

 

All Corvettes (save the convertibles and the Z06 coupe) have been Targas since the early 80s.

 

I know that but are they gonna be offering it in a Targa Top right when it hits the dealer or is that a option that won't be offered for another 2 months or something like that after it hits the dealer?

 

The targa is an inherent part of the coupe design. All non-convertible Corvettes, save for the FRC and Z06 models from '99-'04, have been t-top or targa since 1968.

Simply put, if he gets an '05 coupe, it will be a targa (body colored top). The glass top, and the roof package (both body colored and glass tops) are options.

 

Oh okay then sry i didn't know that. I guess that is why almost all the C5 Vettes i see are Targa's. Except the Zo6 and Verts. I just thought people just added the option in.

I'd get the C6. Even if he were to opt for the Cobra, the new Mustang will be out soon, and looks like its gonna be a better car in every way compared to the SN95 cars.

 

Yeah he is gonna get the Vette now. I don't think they make a auto Cobra anyways. He doesn't know how to drive a stick and doesn't wanna learn. Besides my other friend is about to get a 04 Cobra and now he doesn't wanna have the same car. It sort of sucks though cuz now i'm gonna be stuck with my 96 z28 and there gonna have a 04 cobra and 05 vette. I'm gonna be left in the dust.

I guess he was unaware that they were stick only. I told him that but his other friend said they had auto. But when i proved to him that they didn't have a auto cobra that is when he decided on the C6. I also told him that the C6 is gonna be in a league way above the Cobra.

 

Why don't the converts have targa tops ?!?!?!?!?!
