Gotta love the govt trying to coerce people into doing what they want them to do. Our food is next.

Stupid. Look at Windpower, if the government subsidy isn't extended for 2013 the whole market is going to collapse. (Thousands of jobs).

Without it Windpower can't even come close to competing against coal/natural gas. Government intervention and hippie nutjobs work at it's finest.

What about the average household income of a leaf buyer?

I don't see any reason to raise it. Though, I may buy one now...

Whats it up to? 73,000 pages of control. Most of it not about revenue for the government.

That's a misleading number. That number was based on the first 2,000 volts sold. No data has been shown since then.

Well then it's not misleading unless they were playing with the numbers some . . . kind of like if I were to say that unemployment is dropping, but at the same time I was reducing the number of people in the work force . . . now THAT would be misleading.

Not sure that really matters, since I would assume the idea is to get people to buy more fuel efficient cars rather than cater to the rich...

However, wouldn't increasing the credit bring the possiblity of puchasing a Volt (or other qualifying car) to people who make less money since the car is cheaper now?

I thought we all wanted gov to spend less and get its budget under control? I really like EV's and want them to become mainstream cars in the world, but This is not the way it should be done.

Not so much misleading as completely useless.

I cant see where a 10k tax credit lowers the price of entry for the average guy unless it was applied immediately. Otherwise you still have to qualify based on the deal youve made on the car which puts alot of lower wage earners out of sight uless they have access to that 10k in the form of savings or an accessible retirement account.

Volts were originally leasing for about $400 per month. If it was down in the $350 range with a bigger incentive, it becomes accessible to a lot of people.

I think if the companies really want to move Volts and Leafs, they need to show people how much money they would save on gas. They do these artsy commercials but they need to just throw out facts. Have actual customers say they drove 1000 miles on 5 gallons of gas and $30 of electricity. That is what makes the business case for the cars.
